If you’ve found yourself saying:
“My body feels like it’s holding things I can’t name.”
“I miss who I was before the pain.”
“I’m tired of my body making decisions for me.”
“I’m afraid the people in my life think I’m being dramatic.”
“I’m tired of being dismissed in medical spaces."
…we might be a great fit.
I work with people living with chronic pain and illness, especially those who sense that their bodies are carrying the weight of trauma, stress, or long-standing emotional wounds. I hold the belief that your body houses your life experiences, your family's history, your resilience, and the parts of you that never felt fully safe.

I am a sliding scale therapist whose practice is focused on decreasing stress to help my clients develop a clearer idea of who they are, what they feel, and what they need. Clients who seek my care are often looking for ways to feel more confident and less fearful of the future so they can live in the moment, instead of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Feeling the need to achieve at all costs, focusing only on “what’s next”, and feeling a constant need to stay busy are all experiences I help adults learn to recognize, reframe, and conquer. I see clients on a sliding scale to keep therapy accessible and affordable.

Welcome! You often feel guilty for saying no, worry about disappointing others, and overthink even small interactions. You put others first so much that you lose sight of your own needs, yet still fear being seen as selfish. Conflict feels terrifying, so you avoid it—even when it hurts. You attract one-sided relationships, struggle to set boundaries, and often feel unseen or taken for granted. Deep down, you may believe your worth depends on being helpful, agreeable, or easy to love. I work with people to figure out how to develop healthier relationships, live more authentically, cultivate self compassion, and connect to themselves.

I am an EMDR Trained Clinician who specializes in treating trauma with a background in marriage and family. Additional EMDR training allows me to specifically help performers reach peak performance and work past mental blocks or "yips". Post-EMDR areas of growth may include identity formation, boundaries, and communication skills. Overall, I want my clients to be equipped to pursue a healthy, productive lifestyle. Using an integrative approach, I help clients increase self-efficacy by educating them on health practices they control that positively impact their mental wellbeing.

I support women who feel overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious. You might appear to have it all together on the outside, but inside, you’re weighed down by life’s responsibilities. You’re in need of rest but unsure how to truly incorporate it into your life. Maybe you’ve been running on autopilot, focusing on others’ needs while neglecting your own. You’re familiar with your role as a caregiver, but do you know who you are and what you need outside of that role? I work with women who want to live with peace, show up authentically, and grow in their relationships with themselves and others. I help couples better communicate and trust.

I help people get their spark back after life has taken some of it away. Many of the clients I work with are navigating painful relationship dynamics such as breakups, divorce, post-partum challenges, recovering from domestic violence, or adjusting to major life transitions. I also help people work through childhood trauma so they can better understand themselves, reconnect with who they are, and reclaim their sense of identity.

Hi, I’m Dave. Instead of an inspirational quote or profound thought, I will simply say that life can be really hard sometimes. I would be honored to have a chance to sit down across from you and hear your story. Perhaps in that space we can find some traction, hope, or restoration. I’vebeen working with folks in Nashville for 9 years full-time. I currently work full time at a Nashville University as a LMFT and have a small private practice I do Thursday afternoons. I do offer in person and HIPPA compliant virtual sessions for those residing in the state of TN.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
