“Working hard is important. But there is something that matters even more: believing in yourself.” – Harry Potter.
I carry this belief into the work I do with clients. Therapy is not just about effort or strategies, but also about uncovering the inner strength and self-trust that make change possible. My approach focuses on creating a space where children and teens can discover their voice, build confidence, and learn tools that help them grow both in and outside of the therapy room.

You've been holding it all together-keeping things running, showing up for everyone—yet inside you feel unseen, anxious, or disconnected.
I am gentle, open, and a careful listener throughout the therapy process. My role is to ask thoughtful questions that help you connect your experiences to your feelings. I hope our conversations feel natural and open, even when they’re challenging. These discussions are a key part of healing and gaining a deeper understanding of yourself.

I believe that the emotions we are most tempted to run away from– fear, grief, anger– exist to tell us about the kind of life we want.
I love working with adults who understand that they need to do something different. My clients are eager to feel better, but they may not see a path from here to there. They often feel stuck, anxious, and depressed about the direction of their lives and relationships right now and want better for themselves.

In my 50+ years I have personally experienced a lot of things that my clients share with me. I am able to empathize or and the very least identify with my client`s needs. My approach is Person/Client Centered; Person-centered therapy uses a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in discussions so that, in the process, they will discover their own solutions. The therapist acts as a compassionate facilitator, listening without judgment and acknowledging the client’s experience without moving the conversation in another direction. The therapist is there to encourage and support the client.

Have you experienced emotional or physical abuse? Do you have a hard time calming down when you're upset? Do you have overwhelming thoughts and emotions? Have you been having a difficult time managing life since something big has happened? Experiencing trauma can make it difficult to control your emotions and have relationships with others. This makes it hard for you to trust other people and feel comfortable being vulnerable. I commonly see people who have experienced sexual abuse, traumatic childhood experiences, trauma from their religious community, and those who struggle coping with intense emotions and unresolved anger.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
