Many of the issues my client's encounter stem from relationship issues, depression, anxiety, addiction, substance abuse, life adjustment, work stress, school, and behavioral problems.
I see many clients for accute stressors as well as longterm issues. Many of my clients utilize ongoing therapy as a component of good self care. I also work with several local companies providing their employees with EAP services and engage in onsite critical incident stress reduction when needed.

My ideal client feels pulled into a chapter of life they can’t quite make sense of, caught between what they are trying to leave behind and what they have not yet grown into. They may be navigating early recovery, anxiety, depression, trauma, or sudden life shifts that have unsettled their sense of self. They want clarity, steadiness, and a place where their shadows can be explored without fear. They are seeking real tools, honest guidance, authenticity, and a therapist who can help them uncover what’s been quietly asking for their attention.

I work with individuals seeking to understand and express their emotions, recover from traumatic event(s), or recover from addiction.
I help clients slow down, build internal awareness, and put the pieces together of what they feel, need, and fear so that they can label and name their experiences for themselves and their loved ones. I use Brainspotting to help clients reprocess difficult emotions and experiences. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is the main way I help couples reconnect.

I chose to become a therapist because my oldest daughter's struggles with addiction and mental health issues made finding appropriate help challenging for our family.
I typically utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solutions-Focused therapy, alongside Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I enjoy working with adults aged 20-60 and am most comfortable supporting clients struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, and trauma.

Seeking support can feel overwhelming, especially when navigating complex emotions or painful life experiences, but you don't have to move through this process alone. I specialize in trauma-informed care and deeply understand how past and present experiences shape emotional well-being, behavior patterns, and the sense of self. I integrate evidence-based modalities to gently explore the challenges that bring you to treatment—whether rooted in long-standing wounds, recent stressors, or periods of transition. I believe healing is a process that nurtures growth, fosters inner peace, and restores connection to one’s authentic self.

Many times life throws us unexpected curve balls, and if we can catch them, we find that with a little help we come out much stronger, wiser, and ready to embrace life for a better future. I want to help you do that very thing. I have been a therapist for 30 years and I enjoy helping people find new dreams out what they believe to be lost possibilities. My passion is working with clients who are struggling with the effects of trauma including anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, and relationship difficulties.
The Somatic Experiencing (SE) approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states.

Life in today's world is challenging. There are times when it can feel lonely and overwhelming. With the help of a good therapist, however, these times can become opportunities to find healthier ways of coping and a deeper understanding of who we are. Mutual respect, empathy and a sense of trust are key ingredients in this process. As those begin to deepen, one can begin to explore past relationships and hurts that may have led to ways of thinking and feeling that keep us stuck in old patterns of behavior. Understanding these patterns creates awareness and the ability to make healthier choices.

If you find yourself reading this, likely your intuition is telling you that you need a little help. Maybe someone in your life keeps telling you to "go talk to someone." Whatever the reason and however you are feeling, I'm so glad that you're here.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
