I provide therapy to people from all walks of life and tailor counseling to each individual. I meet people right where they are to help them take steps towards the life they want. I believe that people who struggle with their thoughts and feelings are often just looking for a way to be the person they want to be and sometimes get lost along the way. They want to hold true to their personal values when making choices but have trouble finding a way forward. I believe that, through therapy, people can learn new and creative ways to respond to those thoughts and feelings so they can get back to living a life guided by their values.

There is a reason we do the things that we do and feel the way that we feel. All mental health issues are caused by us surviving and navigating this world to the best of our abilities given all the obstacles that can get in the way. Therapy is a science and an art. In better understanding the science and the question of “why” we do the things that we do can be a powerful tool in starting your healing journey. Once having this level of insight, therapy aims to not only heal you in the present but heal the deeper underlying issues that have caused things to get to this point.

My approach to therapy is to respect each individual as a whole person. I believe each person knows himself or herself best. Loss of jobs, relationships, chemical addiction, life transitions, trauma, abuse and the stress of day to day living come with an array of thoughts and emotions, which at some points in our lives can become overwhelming. We start to feel like nothing can get better, and begin to self-destruct or stay stuck, out of fear of the unknown or poor habits. I use an eclectic approach, pulling together different types of therapies tailored to what would be most beneficial to the particular client.

Many of my clients come in feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or like they've lost themselves in everything they're managing. They may be caregiving for a loved one, adjusting to a health change, grieving a loss, or navigating a life transition that left them feeling unsteady. Others are carrying past experiences that still show up in their daily lives through anxiety, stress responses, or a sense of being stuck they can't explain. I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, chronic illness, and major life transitions who are ready to feel more grounded and in control. Together we'll identify what's been keeping you stuck.

I work with people from all walks of life with a plethora of issues. From addiction, and mental health issues to support in the journey of marriage and parenting, I will provide the support you need to increase your confidence in a way that you can start making necessary decisions. I have a unique perspective of relationships, parenting, and addiction recovery. I've been married for 20 years and believe that deserves a medal because marriage is hard. I've raised three children who are relatively well behaved but also have their moments that I consider the potential that they are Satan's spawn. And that is ok, it's called life.

I also work with trauma, neurodivergence, personality disorders, anxiety, anger, & more!
You're trying your best, but it's all still so overwhelming. Am I not enough or am I too much? I know people struggle, but... like this? Will I ever find my place in this world? Can these cycles ever change, even though they've been around for what feels like forever? If you are an individual or couple and this sounds familiar, perhaps it's time to finally get the support you deserve. I serve people of all stripes- whether you be a parent, a student, a blue collar worker, differently abled, a nurse, a teacher, a recovering addict, previously incarcerated... Whoever you are, you're human, and we have that in common.

Are you going through a life transition, experiencing stress, and have feelings of anxiety or depression? Or do you struggle with an addiction? Life can be tough and the stress can be difficult deal with. It is not uncommon for this to make us feel isolated, alone, downhearted, and distressed. Imagine if you didn't have to feel this way. It can be a challenge, but people can feel healthy, happy, and "better".

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
