Life isn't easy. Throw in some anxiety, depression, life events, and a few relationship issues, and NOW it feels like the hard days outweigh the easy ones. You need space to breathe, to be heard, and to feel safe. Therapy offers that space—to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and gain practical tools to stay grounded. Together, we’ll build practical tools to keep you unfrazzled in the chaos that anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and life transitions endlessly create. If you’re ready for real change, I’d be honored to help you find your way to a calm, collected and connected self, no matter what life brings.

I provide therapy to people from all walks of life and tailor counseling to each individual. I meet people right where they are to help them take steps towards the life they want. I believe that people who struggle with their thoughts and feelings are often just looking for a way to be the person they want to be and sometimes get lost along the way. They want to hold true to their personal values when making choices but have trouble finding a way forward. I believe that, through therapy, people can learn new and creative ways to respond to those thoughts and feelings so they can get back to living a life guided by their values.

I believe that everyone can discover and be their "best self"! We all may just need a little help sometime getting to that point. We cannot go back and change the past....but can only start from today, where we are right now, and create our best future! We will work together in discovering the obstacles that are in your path and create a plan to get you on the right path.

There is a reason we do the things that we do and feel the way that we feel. All mental health issues are caused by us surviving and navigating this world to the best of our abilities given all the obstacles that can get in the way. Therapy is a science and an art. In better understanding the science and the question of “why” we do the things that we do can be a powerful tool in starting your healing journey. Once having this level of insight, therapy aims to not only heal you in the present but heal the deeper underlying issues that have caused things to get to this point.

Most of my clients are recovering from traumatic past family dynamics. They want to work on anxiety, depression, PTSD, and healthy self-image. Many say they need to "find their voice." My work with couples focuses on attachment and trust issues, infidelity, and rebuilding empathetic, effective communication. My under-18 clients are normally working through issues surrounding increased autonomy, anxiety, depression, and grief, coping with parental separation and loss.

For I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. Romans 7:15 NIV Life has a way of putting obstacles before us where we respond in ways that we do not wish to. Whether relational or personal, therapy can help you gain skills, gain insight and move toward a new way of being. The first step is the most difficult and I encourage you to take that step. It could be life changing.

I have a calling on my life to work with teens and adults to move forward.
Hi! I'm Ryan Woodzell. I know coming to therapy can be a scary thing. It takes courage, strength, and power to take the steps to go to and actively participate in the ways that you need. Things like trauma, family issues, depression and anxiety, questioning your faith, low self-esteem, and many others can push you to a place of feeling alone and inadequate. You may have had experiences with therapy that make you feel like it doesn't work or that it isn't for you. I would love to be able to join you in your journey, help you process and explore those difficulties, and move toward a better place in your life.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
