I work with young adults, lgbtqia+, and those in life transitions.
I'm here with you to do the work! Many of our mental health struggles come from either past or current trauma. Trauma can then lead to poor boundaries, low self-esteem, negative beliefs and patterns of behavior that continue to hurt us. Oftentimes we know what we want for our lives, but we've been conditioned to believe we are undeserving. Whether this belief has been created from religious experiences, our family of origin, or society we will work together to bring about hope and healing. Choosing who to share your story with is a serious and personal decision. You must feel comfortable, accepted, and valued in this space.

As an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, I strive to provide an affirming space where you feel heard.
My ideal client experiences obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) or hoarding disorder, feeling consumed by intrusive thoughts, compulsions, or difficulty letting go of possessions. They are seeking a structured, evidence-based approach and are ready to engage in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, the gold standard for OCD treatment. They want a therapist who deeply understands their fears, offers guidance through exposures, and helps them break unhelpful cycles. Their goal is to sit with discomfort, challenge OCD’s worst-case scenarios, and build confidence in tolerating uncertainty.

As a narrative therapist, I help my clients explore the personal, relational and societal stories (both useful and problematic) that shape and give meaning to their lives. My collaborative sessions highlight and emphasize clients' strengths and innate ability to "re-write" difficult chapters of their stories so that new pathways to empowered, inspired living can emerge.

I specialize in working with adults, adolescents, children, families and couples who face domestic violence, co-dependency, depression, anxiety, trauma, LGBTQ, parenting, loss/grief, divorce, anger management, family dysfunction, blending families, and military life style/reintegration.
Many therapists like myself venture into the mental health field motivated by their own experiences. Growing up in a family that struggled with addictions, grief/loss, co-dependency, violence and dysfunction, I existed in life feeling lonely, worthless, and empty for too many years. I turned my life upside down and reconstructed my life based upon me as I was truly created. Living life whole, as a spiritually connected being, brought me to love, accept and respect myself. In this place LIFE IS GOOD! I know the path that leads to this place.

There are times in life when we simply feel "stuck". Despite how bleak things may seem, there is always reason to hope for change. As a strengths-based therapist, I assume my clients are caring and capable. I am also the founder of two therapy practices that have locations throughout Tennessee: TN Mental Wellness (Out-of-Network) and Horizon Counseling (In-Network). The therapists in our practices use trauma-informed techniques to help clients connect with their best selves, allowing them to unlock solutions to the challenges they face. We help our clients experience "post-traumatic growth".

You feel different than others and there’s so much going on inside. Perhaps your thoughts and emotions are just too much. The people, places and activities that may have been fulfilling and safe in the past, are now what you would prefer to avoid. Others appear happy, but that same happiness feels beyond your reach. Maybe you recognize the need for some change, but enacting change seems impossible. Are you ready for your mind and body to be at peace in this chaotic world and to find your true self again? It is possible to access the wonder and creative energy of youth and to have a new understanding of your life.

Welcome, and congratulations on taking this step on your journey! I see the courage and strength that have brought you this far, and I’m excited for the growth and healing ahead of you. I have a holistic and collaborative approach to therapy. Before I ever sat across from someone as a therapist, I went into the community with instructions to practice partnership and reciprocity, build capacity, create sustainable solutions, and always reflect to continue learning and growing. That is how I approach my work with clients as well.

If you find yourself reading this, likely your intuition is telling you that you need a little help. Maybe someone in your life keeps telling you to "go talk to someone." Whatever the reason and however you are feeling, I'm so glad that you're here.

My clients are high performers, athletes, entrepreneurs, and professionals who are driven, successful, and under pressure to always “be on.” They struggle with anxiety, burnout, self-doubt, or feeling misunderstood despite their achievements. They want to perform at a high level while feeling more balanced, fulfilled, and connected in their personal lives. They’re looking for tools to manage stress, navigate low emotional states, and build healthier relationships. Ultimately, they want to thrive not just in their careers, but in who they are beyond the performance.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
