I use attachment-based with most of my clients.
Feeling stuck in the same patterns? I help motivated adults and couples move beyond anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges toward lasting change. Many clients feel overwhelmed or disconnected, often repeating cycles they don’t fully understand. Using a focused, depth-oriented approach, we process emotional experiences, build a stronger, more grounded sense of self, and create more secure, connected ways of relating. This work supports meaningful, sustainable growth.

I am a child therapist who works with children and families. The ages of my clients are typically 4 years of age and older. The children and families I work with often struggle with big feelings and emotions that may stem from neurodivergence (ADHD, ASD, LD, sensory processing, etc), or other traumas experienced in the family system. I work with clients and their families to promote healthy coping strategies that empower children to advocate for themselves, have secure/healthy connections with adults, and ultimately change their behaviors through learned coping skills.

I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist under the supervision of Keiara Marsh-Cartwright, LMFT (License-1554). I work with individuals and couples who feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck in old patterns. Many long for better communication, emotional safety, autonomy, and hope, both in themselves and in their relationships. I offer a supportive, grounded space to explore what’s not working, understand the roots of the pain, and move toward clarity, confidence, and connection that feels real and lasting.

Many therapists like myself venture into the mental health field motivated by their own experiences. Growing up in a family that struggled with addictions, grief/loss, co-dependency, violence and dysfunction, I existed in life feeling lonely, worthless, and empty for too many years. I turned my life upside down and reconstructed my life based upon me as I was truly created. Living life whole, as a spiritually connected being, brought me to love, accept and respect myself. In this place LIFE IS GOOD! I know the path that leads to this place.

Let me ask you a few questions! Lately, have you been feeling overwhelmed by life's obstacles? Have you experienced feelings of anxiety, depression, or anger that you just can't quite manage? Do you desire peace, joy, and the ability to live life to the fullest, regardless of inevitable obstacles or unresolved trauma? We each have strengths and skills to carry us through, and it is my passion to help each client through that process. Sometimes life throws things at us that leave us shaken and confused, but even then, we can and will persevere. I am incredibly honored to work with each and every client through that journey!

I work with adult individuals and couples to heal from trauma, attachment wounds, and the patterns that can make life and relationships feel stuck. I believe it all matters- the mind, the body, and the soul- so my work combines all of these. I have learned through my experience as a therapist that people are not problems to be fixed, they are persons to be loved!

You’ve built a successful life—so why does it still feel so heavy, lonely, or unfulfilling? Even high achievers wonder, “Why do I feel so empty when I’ve accomplished so much?” I work with high-achieving professionals who feel burned out, anxious, stuck, or quietly wondering, “Is this worth the cost?” Together, we make space for your real self beneath the roles, expectations, and constant doing. I also specialize in trauma and divorce recovery, helping clients move from survival into genuine growth and meaning. I love helping clients experience "post-traumatic growth".

Do days feel like a cycle of big emotions, behavioral struggles, and meltdowns, followed by guilt, doubt, or the feeling that you should be handling things better? Many caregivers reach out feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure what they are missing. Ongoing behavioral challenges can leave families stuck in survival mode, especially when nothing seems to help for long. These challenges are sometimes the result of difficult life events such as family separation, foster care, loss, abuse, or domestic violence.

You feel different than others and there’s so much going on inside. Perhaps your thoughts and emotions are just too much. The people, places and activities that may have been fulfilling and safe in the past, are now what you would prefer to avoid. Others appear happy, but that same happiness feels beyond your reach. Maybe you recognize the need for some change, but enacting change seems impossible. Are you ready for your mind and body to be at peace in this chaotic world and to find your true self again? It is possible to access the wonder and creative energy of youth and to have a new understanding of your life.

When past experiences go unresolved, they often surface in our relationships. My clients often experience with intense reactions, shutting down, fearing abandonment, or feeling anxious and disconnected without fully understand why. Or they might understand what’s happening on an intellectual level, yet still feel stuck trying to find deeper change. My approach to therapy is relational and deeply grounded in attunement. Being truly seen and understood is a big piece of this work. I go beyond surface level, hold the heavy stuff with you, and make sure to not only help make sense of it all..but actually get to the root.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
