Life can confront us with unbearable pain and overwhelming obstacles, leaving us feeling lost, discouraged, and questioning our worth. These experiences weigh us down, creating a pain that feels impossible to escape. In response, we summon strength and try to "brush it off" and "keep moving," often invalidating our emotions and experiences in the process. Over time, unprocessed pain seeps into our present, overshadowing joy and eroding our sense of self. The future feels unreachable, the past ever-present, and we lose connection to who we truly are. Even in the darkness, there is hope for healing.

If you struggle with self-doubt, anxiety, depression, shame, or difficulty trusting your own thoughts, feelings, and memories, you may be experiencing the lasting effects of childhood trauma or narcissistic abuse. When emotions are dismissed, boundaries are ignored, or your reality is repeatedly questioned, it can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and uncertain of your worth. These experiences often show up as people-pleasing, fear of rejection, difficulty making decisions, and a constant need for validation.

I use a Cyclical Psychodynamic approach. This is an integrative approach to therapy, which combines empirically supported therapies- relational psychodynamics, cognitive-behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and family systems theory. It works by creating corrective emotional experiences in therapy and developing new ways of interacting with others outside of therapy. This process facilitates increased awareness, resilience, better strategies, and increased effectiveness.

Life experiences shape not only how we think, but how we relate, protect ourselves, and move through the world. Over time, patterns that once helped us cope can start to feel overwhelming, leaving us anxious, disconnected, or stuck.
My approach is rooted in attachment, body-based healing, and the understanding that our nervous systems hold the imprint of what we’ve lived through. Together, we slow things down, get curious about your patterns, and make space for the parts of you that have worked hard to survive. Rather than focusing on what’s “wrong,” we explore what’s happened and how it still shows up in your day-to-day life.

I am a certified Personality Disorder Treatment Provider (C-PD) and I especially enjoy helping clients with personality disorders, mood disorders, relationship conflicts, trauma/PTSD, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and survivors of narcissistic abuse.
I have always been interested in understanding the world from other people's points of view. My job as a therapist is to understand your story and how your worldview informs the way you react to life stressors. My goal is to help you utilize your own strengths and insight to feel calm, centered, and content in a world that often isn't. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, the LGBTQ/alternative lifestyle community, and I provide sex-positive treatment. A few fun facts about me that you will likely learn if we are working together: I'm a parent to 2 humans and 4 cats, I love to travel, I practice yoga, and I'm a bit of a Swiftie.

The process of initiating therapy can be scary. Trusting someone you don't know isn't always easy. The truth is that life is difficult. We have all experienced sadness, loss, fear, and loneliness. Therapy can help find clarity and strength. My experience is as diverse as those I serve such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, marital counseling, and PTSD. I enjoy my work and feel blessed to be a tool for God to help those who are hurting or in need of understanding. My greatest reward comes from empowering people with the confidence and tools to make a positive change.

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
