I'm known for a direct, intuitive and loving approach. Like the horses, I tell it like it is and I hold space for you to find contentment and growth. First session is information gathering, goal setting and education on what can provide you with some immediate relief from symptoms. We support that foundation each time we meet and go deeper emotionally to understand the "hows and whys" of what got you stuck. I may provide readings or other activities to do in between sessions so that therapy becomes a new habit for you. Horses help us by supporting our authenticity as we engage the new things we have learned.

With compassion, insight and acceptance, I can help you explore the issues which prevent you from success in your personal and professional relationships. I believe that we all possess much of the knowledge needed to answer life's questions; however, as with all things, we sometimes simply forget where to look. I see my work primarily as a guide, helping my clients find their own answers and their own happiness.I view therapy as a way to gain self awareness in order to understand one's pattern of relating to others and dealing with life's challenges.

I believe you deserve the opportunity to meet your most authentic and confident self and to find joy in the journey of doing so. Whether that means healing from trauma, finding where you belong, or learning how to get out of your own way— we can work together to make space in your life for what matters, and that's you. I also acknowledge that each of us exists within larger systems (some of which can be inherently unjust) and that building such a life often requires you to find belongingness and support both from within and from without. I strive to make therapy a healing space but also approachable, safe, and even silly sometimes!

I love working with clients who have a readiness to gain greater self awareness, and those who have a deep desire to know and accept themselves. I have a heart for working with individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as those who have ADHD/ASD. As a member of these communities myself I know that many of us were taught to dislike ourselves or to try and blend in and I hope to offer each client who steps into my office a sense of safety and understanding.

Everyone wants to be themselves, to be “seen,” and to be valued for their uniqueness. We’re wired to need safe and affirming relationships and connection with others. When we’re struggling, it’s usually because something has gotten in the way of these things - not because we’re somehow "defective" or "flawed." I value authenticity, and strive to help clients feel and honor emotions that may seem “wrong" or unacceptable.

A relationship changes. A role no longer fits. The identity you’ve always known feels unfamiliar, and you may find yourself asking, “What now?”
You might be navigating a life transition, questioning your identity, or exploring new aspects of yourself & relationships. Maybe your career feels uncertain, your kids need you less, or your relationship is shifting in way that is exiting & unsettling. Growth is uncomfortable & change happens when we sit with it, understand our patterns, & take intentional steps forward. I work with adults, parents & couples in these in-between spaces, helping you make sense of what's shifting & reconnect.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.
What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.
How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.
How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
