Sometimes the hardest part is not knowing why you feel the way you do. You may feel emotionally exhausted, stuck in overthinking, disconnected in relationships, or overwhelmed by expectations you can’t seem to escape. I work with teens, adults, couples, & families who are trying to hold everything together while quietly struggling underneath the surface. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping you understand your emotions rather than fight against them. I use EMDR, Brainspotting, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), with Christian counseling available for those who want faith integrated into the process

First Responder? You spend the majority of your time at work "ON," ready for the next call or incident with little to no time to decompress. You witness more traumatic events in a week (maybe even a day) than most people see in a lifetime. Continuous response to traumatic events over time has a profound effect on the autonomic nervous system so much so you can find yourself feeling exhausted emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually. You may have difficulty unwinding or getting sleep without the use of social media, alcohol, drugs, sex, porn, video games, gambling, shopping, food to numb the emotions or sensations in the body.

I believe healing happens in the presence of compassion, authenticity, and genuine human connection. Therapy doesn’t have to feel cold or clinical—it can be a space where you feel understood, supported, and even able to laugh at times. I strive to create an environment where you can show up exactly as you are, knowing you’ll be met with empathy, curiosity, and respect. I believe that no one is “broken.”Many of us are simply carrying experiences that are too heavy to hold alone. I tailor therapy to you—your goals, your values, and your lived experience. I want to help you feel grounded, empowered and connected to yourself and others.

Are you experiencing the road as lonely and isolating or feeling confused about your next steps in life? Maybe your race, gender, sexual identity, or world-view is being dishonored, and you feel oppression and injustice.

Transform your relationship in a 3 day couples intensive! Feeling stuck and disconnected from your partner can be a lonely and isolating experience. It is easy to lose a sense of hope when you are repeating the very cycles driving disconnection in the relationship. If you are experiencing disconnection and the same problems over and over, a 3 days couples workshop might be a great option for you!

I believe every patient should receive evidence based treatments which allow them the best opportunity at real and lasting recovery. This means I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Therapy in treating OCD, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders and Eating disorders. This allows me to be a very hands on therapist. I regularly take clients out into the community to engage in exposure therapy and behavioral activation which allows me to provide support and encouragement throughout the process. I genuinely believe that OCD, anxiety, depression and eating disorders are very treatable conditions when being treated with effective and active treatments.

We all have an innate capacity to create a sense of well-being. Yet, the demands of our lives---difficult relationships, losses, disappointments, transitions---can cause feelings of helplessness or even despair. Vitality falls way to depression or anxiety or addictive behaviors. Therapy can be useful to better understand and manage the complexities of your life; to reclaim some vitality; to love, work, and play in ways that are more congruent with who you strive to be. With twenty five years of experience, I offer seasoned and compasssionate guidance as you define your specific goals and work toward inhabiting a truer version of yourself.

I come from an educated clinical background that bridges the gap between spirituality and evidence based practice.
My ideal client is one willing to seek every opportunity in order to better themselves. I want to be a resource in a way that benefits the client most. I would love to work with all kinds of issues, especially those relating to anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and family struggles. My best fit would be someone who is spiritually minded, for that is a strong foundation of mine in therapy. I would want the client to be able to think through realistic and effort-inclusive goals that will help them move one step closer to the life they want to be living.

With compassion, insight and acceptance, I can help you explore the issues which prevent you from success in your personal and professional relationships. I believe that we all possess much of the knowledge needed to answer life's questions; however, as with all things, we sometimes simply forget where to look. I see my work primarily as a guide, helping my clients find their own answers and their own happiness.I view therapy as a way to gain self awareness in order to understand one's pattern of relating to others and dealing with life's challenges.

We all face challenges in life, but we do not have to face them alone. It is important to be able to communicate our feelings and needs in a safe environment. And sometimes, we need a guide to help us navigate the difficult inner territory that stands between us and our best selves. I seek to create a safe space where you can heal and grow, and to help you work through the struggles, losses and wounds that keep you from thriving.

We become the most invested in the products of our own creation. Often the time and space to appreciate and enjoy what we created is overrun by tasks and attention needed for other details in order to generate or maintain ongoing success. The hustle to succeed frequently mirrors the anxiety of failure. How can achieving rest positively impact your business, as well as your personal relationships? Art is a great tool for mindfulness and self-awareness that enables you the choice to act instead of react to people and situations that exist in your daily life.

The future is uncertain. Maybe you're excited about a possibility that is opening up or maybe you feel so stuck, confused, and overwhelmed you want to pull the covers over your head and secretly wish the world would go away. You want to do things differently but don't know HOW. Personal growth is cool but all the self-help books, online yoga workshops, and traditional talk therapy options are coming up short. Guess what? You've just struck gold. I'm here to offer you something different.

Have you often felt like dumbo was sitting on your chest, deep breaths were nearly impossible to take, and tension you barely realized you were holding in your body made you sore the next morning? Do you notice a stream of negative and judgemental thoughts in your head that just feel like familiar friends these days? Some days even feel like an imposter in your own skin…wishing things were different but feeling helpless? You are never helpless. You can confront these narratives and begin healing. You can finally release your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and find support and I am here to help you.

My desire is to create safe, supportive space to help you feel comfortable and fully supported in the work that you would like to do. I enjoy assisting with transitions through all kinds of life circumstances - grief and loss, relationship issues, career changes and soul questions or crises, to name a few. I welcome working with you to help you release what is not working in your life and to help you make room for the "new" -- for transformation, deep peace and, most of all, for joy.

When my clients come to me, they may recognize that something isn't quite right, and often are not sure what that "something" might be. They may have a mixed relationship with their past and struggle to integrate their experiences into a clear picture of their place in the world, or even to imagine a world where they can flourish. Sometimes they are aware of the specific traumas that have affected them, and sometimes all they know is struggle. My clients meet me with enough hope and courage to hold that first session, and I am privileged to walk with them from there.

It is not uncommon for people to come to therapy and say, “I just feel lost.” You may wonder where the meaning has gone. Life is confusing. Sometimes you doubt life itself, and you are forever doubting yourself. You're exhausted! Showing up is the first step in finding yourself. I help you identify your deepest values and passions and adjust your life to live by them; I go deep and you need to know that up front. You will be asked to examine the thoughts you think and to identify your emotions which are always clues to what is below the surface.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
