You may be functioning on the outside but feel internally overwhelmed, tense, or emotionally shut down. Your mind doesn’t slow down, small things feel heavy, and avoiding tasks or conversations has become easier than dealing with them. You might be carrying anxiety, unresolved experiences, or a sense that something isn’t right, but you can’t quite name it. Therapy can help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface and learn how to respond differently, rather than just pushing through.

Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT) is the gold-standard of couples therapy.
Transform your relationship in a 3 day couples intensive! Feeling stuck and disconnected from your partner can be a lonely and isolating experience. It is easy to lose a sense of hope when you are repeating the very cycles driving disconnection in the relationship. If you are experiencing disconnection and the same problems over and over, a 3 days couples workshop might be a great option for you!

I work with individuals and couples using a relational, experiential approach grounded in Attachment Theory, incorporating Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Every session offers space to slow down, untangle what hurts, and move toward clarity, self-understanding, and hope. I believe we all make sense in the context of our stories—and meaningful change begins with being truly seen and known.

First Responder? You spend the majority of your time at work "ON," ready for the next call or incident with little to no time to decompress. You witness more traumatic events in a week (maybe even a day) than most people see in a lifetime. Continuous response to traumatic events over time has a profound effect on the autonomic nervous system so much so you can find yourself feeling exhausted emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually. You may have difficulty unwinding or getting sleep without the use of social media, alcohol, drugs, sex, porn, video games, gambling, shopping, food to numb the emotions or sensations in the body.

With compassion, insight and acceptance, I can help you explore the issues which prevent you from success in your personal and professional relationships. I believe that we all possess much of the knowledge needed to answer life's questions; however, as with all things, we sometimes simply forget where to look. I see my work primarily as a guide, helping my clients find their own answers and their own happiness.I view therapy as a way to gain self awareness in order to understand one's pattern of relating to others and dealing with life's challenges.

Sometimes the hardest part is not knowing why you feel the way you do. You may feel emotionally exhausted, stuck in overthinking, disconnected in relationships, or overwhelmed by expectations you can’t seem to escape. I work with teens, adults, couples, & families who are trying to hold everything together while quietly struggling underneath the surface. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping you understand your emotions rather than fight against them. I use EMDR, Brainspotting, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), with Christian counseling available for those who want faith integrated into the process

Healing from dysfunctional relationships can be...messy. Family stuff has a way of sticking with us. Maybe you’re a teen who feels like nobody’s listening, a young adult still carrying the weight of old family patterns, or a parent just trying to keep the peace at home. Whatever stage you’re in, those disconnects can feel heavy and exhausting. Therapy is a space for us to untangle the mess, figure it out, and give you the skills to build the kinds of relationships you want.

Are you ready to take the first step in your healing journey? I believe that healing is a process that starts with compassion and curiosity, and sometimes we just need help asking the right questions to learn about ourselves. Every part of you deserves to be explored and I hope to aid in exploring those questions to deepen understanding of self and your own specific worldview.

It can be difficult to understand the patterns that contribute to our pain, but the process can be easier with the help of an unbiased therapist. My individual clients are seeking support with their daily anxiety and want to build self-love and acceptance. We work together to create goals and actionable steps to restore peace within. With couples, I focus on premarital therapy to ensure couples are aligned, as well as therapy after a breach of trust like infidelity. I enjoy working with couples to address negative communication patterns and to restore trust. My clients tend to be motivated to change, and I am there to guide.

With couples, Emotionally focused therapy is my treatment choice.
The most rewarding therapy sessions occur with clients who are motivated to make progress towards the goals they set. I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client is of upmost importance to the client meeting their goals. I strive to build a trusting, supportive, and safe relationship with each of my clients. I believe everyone has their own unique story to tell. I enjoy hearing that story and helping people overcome the issues that can surface over a lifetime. I see adults and adolescents in my therapy practice as well as the occasional couple.

I believe we all have the innate capacity for healing and it is not something you need to do alone. As a non-binary autistic therapist, I specialize in working with Neurodivergent (ND) and queer people of all ages. I often support clients healing from complex trauma, including relational/attachment trauma and religious trauma, as well as anxiety, stress and depression. My knowledge and experience with ND extends beyond just ADHD/Autism as I have experience working with BPD, DID/plurality, learning disabilities and other ND experiences. Chronic illness/pain is also a familiar topic given the presence in queer/ND communities.

I have completed the Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT) externship, as well as Skills 1 & 2.
Clients who work with me are often navigating transitions, especially in their career or relationships. Often times, crippling fear holds you back from making that leap despite the inner "knowing" that something isn't for you anymore. I also work with those navigating other life transitions- breakups, divorce, spiritual shifts, or couples navigating new or challenging seasons (especially ADHD impacted relationships) in their romantic partnership. I also have a special interest in working with those looking to integrate non-ordinary states of consciousness experiences- included, but not limited to Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.

Hi, I’m Alyssa! Something brought you here—stress, burnout, relationship challenges, or simply a sense that life doesn’t feel quite right. You may feel stuck in old patterns, carrying heaviness you can’t fully name, or wondering who you are beneath the expectations and roles you’ve been living out. Whatever you’re holding, you don’t have to carry it alone.

Life can be complicated, overwhelming, challenging, and messy. People don’t tend to fit in neat little boxes, but I find that beautiful. The people I comes in contact with never cease to amaze and inspire me with their stories, struggles, and victories. I am committed to creating a safe and nonjudgemental space for people to explore healing and reconnect with themselves, others, and with hope beyond ourselves. My focus is relational and I believe this is the most healing aspect of any treatment modal. “We are wounded in relationship, and we heal in relationship.”

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
