With compassion, insight and acceptance, I can help you explore the issues which prevent you from success in your personal and professional relationships. I believe that we all possess much of the knowledge needed to answer life's questions; however, as with all things, we sometimes simply forget where to look. I see my work primarily as a guide, helping my clients find their own answers and their own happiness.I view therapy as a way to gain self awareness in order to understand one's pattern of relating to others and dealing with life's challenges.

I'm known for a direct, intuitive and loving approach. Like the horses, I tell it like it is and I hold space for you to find contentment and growth. First session is information gathering, goal setting and education on what can provide you with some immediate relief from symptoms. We support that foundation each time we meet and go deeper emotionally to understand the "hows and whys" of what got you stuck. I may provide readings or other activities to do in between sessions so that therapy becomes a new habit for you. Horses help us by supporting our authenticity as we engage the new things we have learned.

In the world today, there are countless things that we often pursue in the hopes of happiness, only to fall short. We ask ourselves, "Why am I still depressed? Why am I still anxious?" As we pursue "happiness," distractions impair our ability to make healthy decisions, and we never get a chance to know what we are thinking. Much of our habits stem from trauma or memories unpleasant enough, we make attempts to avoid the discomfort of the emotions the memories bring.

**Now Accepting New Clients** I see adults and adolescents who typically present with anxiety and/or depression. If I had to name just one specialty, it would be anxiety. Most people suffer some form of it at some point in their lives. When left untreated, it can lead to more severe symptoms and a whole host of diagnoses. I practice primarily Cognitive Behavioral techniques. I will talk to you about your beliefs, expectations, and how you experience the world. I'll teach you to be more accepting of yourself, so you can stop judging and reacting from created stories. I will also help you improve foundational behaviors.

Have you ever been told your emotions are “too much”? Maybe you’ve felt like you’re stuck in a loop of self-doubt, hopelessness, or even thoughts of giving up. I see you. And I want you to know things can get better. For the past decade, I have helped thousands of people emerge from hopelessness, suicidal ideation and the burden of unbearable pain into a life that they love using Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Life is hard. I know it is. I went through DBT as a client before I became a DBT therapist. And it saved my life. I want you to be filled with hope that DBT really can help and I can show you how.

As a trauma specialist and former First Responder, I understand the unique challenges of high-stress environments and how deeply trauma can impact daily life. These experiences can weigh heavily, leading to anxiety, depression, fear, and isolation. Reaching out for support isn’t easy—but you don’t have to navigate it alone.

I work with individuals and couples dealing with perinatal concerns, parenting stress and caring for family with medical or mental health needs. I frequently support helping professionals, like healthcare workers, legal professionals or teachers who are coping with trauma or burnout. Creating a place where you can explore your thoughts and feelings free of judgement is my first priority. I believe therapy should not feel intimidating, and that bringing warmth and humor into the process helps to keep us engaged and moving forward.

From the outside it may look like you have things under control, but internally it feels like you're furiously scrambling to keep up, or just catch your breath. You've likely prided yourself on being self-sufficient, independent, or the one that other people come to with their problems. But you're starting to realize that it's hard to show up for yourself and others when you feel like you're drowning. You need (and want!) MORE... More connection, more clarity, more space, more happiness, and more peace. And LESS... Less loneliness, confusion, apathy, anxiety, and shame.

Borderline Personality (BPD) Therapists
What is the most successful approach to treating borderline personality disorder?
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is considered the gold standard of treatment for borderline personality disorder. An evidence-based treatment, it addresses the extreme emotional reactivity, the relationship difficulties, and the acts of self-harm that create so much distress for BPD patients. DBT is a comprehensive program that includes both regular individual psychotherapy sessions and weekly group sessions of skills training.

What happens in treatment of borderline personality disorder?
Treatment typically consists of weekly individual therapy sessions that last an hour and group skill-focused instructional sessions that may last up to two hours. Patients are typically given homework “assignments” in which they are asked to practice in their daily life the skills they acquire in therapy. Patients also keep a diary tracking their emotions and impulses as a way to know which situations are most problematic and to help them gain control over their own behavior. Difficult situations and feelings are typically reviewed in therapy sessions and more constructive solutions found.

What kinds of problems does BPD treatment help with?
DBT was initially developed to dampen the self-destructive impulses of chronically suicidal patients. It is now the treatment of choice for borderline personality disorder, a serious condition marked by extreme emotional reactivity, relationship instability, and self-injurious behaviors. Treatment of BPD helps patients tolerate the flux of emotions without acting on them, often with a specific focus on tolerating negative emotions. DBT addresses the core problems of BPD—fear of abandonment, low self-esteem, and impulsivity.

What is the goal of treatment in borderline personality disorder?
The goal of treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD) is to relieve the extreme emotional distress that patients experience—to curb their emotional reactivity, to minimize their inclination to self-harm, and to reduce their impulsivity. Toward these ends, patients are not only taught an array of new coping skills and techniques for emotional regulation, they are given opportunities to practice them. Another major goal of treatment is interpersonal effectiveness; patients learn and problem-solve ways to effectively communicate in relationships, especially how to ask for what they need as a way to minimize hurt feelings.
