At whatever stage we find ourselves in life, we are challenged by unexpected events, perceived emotional limitations, as well as trauma or fear. Even so, we have the potential to overcome these challenges and progress as authentic beings, embracing our self and our relationships.

Are you hurting? We all struggle with issues in our lives. That's a hard road to walk alone without a guide to help you navigate. Anxiety, depression, or trauma in your life that continues to weigh you down....You just want to escape the pain. Then, there are other times when you want to be heard through some of life's smaller set backs or to assist as you consider major life decisions. It could be you're struggling in your relationships with a spouse or family member. Your child may be the one who is suffering, and you're looking for someone who can help them clear the emotional hurdle in their lives.

Most of the adults I work with know something isn’t working but can’t put it into words. They may be exhausted from overthinking, carrying stress, or feeling stuck in relationship patterns, anxiety, anger or self‑doubt. I help them identify the patterns keeping them stuck, understand how they developed and create practical changes that feel different in everyday life. I offer online therapy for adults 20+ across Tennessee.

I have worked in school-based community mental health for six years. During this time I intermittently provided teletherapy and realized I love providing clients the access to therapy on their own terms. While I'm not new to the field, I’m excited to start using my experience to support clients and families with Grow! Therapy can feel intimidating and invasive, but it doesn't have to be! My goal is to make therapy approachable and beneficial for every client I serve. Are you a teenager caught in the challenges that come with being between childhood and adulthood?

I have been licensed since 2017 and I've been working in the mental health arena for just under a decade. I began working in community mental health and that gave me an excellent opportunity to work with people who were dealing with a large variety of issues, including significant trauma, depression, anxiety, self-harm, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, people struggling to find motivation, people who are grieving significant losses, people with attention or focus issues, and people just trying to find their place in the world. My primary concern is ensuring that you feel comfortable and safe to share openly.

Hi, I’m Kelsie. I’m a licensed clinical social worker and somatic therapist with over a decade of experience sitting with people through the complexities of life. My approach is grounded in presence, body awareness, and the belief that healing happens in relationship—with ourselves, each other, and the systems we live in. I draw from somatic practices, narrative therapy, and mindfulness to help clients reconnect with their own wisdom, process what’s been stored in the body, and move toward more ease and authenticity. In our first session, you can expect a welcoming, low-pressure space to begin wherever you are.

I am originally from California, and have been practicing mental health therapy since 2014. I moved to East Tennessee in 2018, and fell in love with the beautiful mountains. I am licensed and can practice clinical psychology in both Tennessee and Virginia. Since 2021 I have been a caretaker to my elderly mother. I am now returning to work to once again provide therapy. My school background in psychology centered around children and young adults and neuropsychology (aka I'm the person who administers tests such as the WISC, WAIS, MMPI-2, MOCA, yep even the Rorschach test, and many more).

You may have spent years feeling “too much,” scattered, or like everyone else got a manual you didn’t. Maybe your emotions feel intense, your mind won’t slow down, or you’re constantly hard on yourself no matter what you do. If you’re living with trauma, anxiety, depression, or ADHD; it can feel exhausting just trying to keep up. Many of the people I work with also struggle with disordered eating, body image struggles, addiction, or codependency. Underneath it all, there’s often a quiet sense that you aren’t enough. This can show up as overthinking, overworking, people-pleasing, or shrinking yourself just to feel okay.

As a Christian and a professional I endeavor to provide professional counseling within a Christian worldview. As a therapist I try to be a good listener as well as someone who helps to clarify and provide input. I have been trained in a variety of counseling approaches but find that having a caring attitude and listening ear is beneficial to my clients.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
