As a Certified Clinical
Trauma
Professional (CCTP) with additional training in sex therapy I am prepared to build relationships with clients who have experienced various traumatic events, whether that be a car accident or sexual abuse.
"There is nothing wrong with you. There is something wrong with what happened to you." The ways we are treated by others can convince us that there is something inherently wrong with who we are.
Trauma
and negative life experiences teach us what to believe about ourselves and the world around us, but sometimes they inform us inaccurately. Whether you've experienced abuse, difficult relationships, loss, or grief, I would love the opportunity to join you as you rediscover who you are and walk into healing and wholeness.

In a world that continues to turn with or without us, we often wonder where we can get off in order to regroup. When we are expected to fulfill all of the everyday roles that we have taken on, we tend to lose touch with ourselves. My purpose is to provide an open, restorative and non-judgmental healing space for you. I am pleased to work with individuals who want help with anxiety, depression,
trauma
and grief. As well as providing support during life transitions, unexpected changes and personal growth.

You are worthy and you are enough. Those seven words can feel like an unreachable mindset, I know.
Trauma
, abuse, neglect, grief, and the weight of caring for others more than yourself can make that phrase feel hollow. Anxiety, depression, flashbacks, nightmares, and isolation are truly exhausting. If you are reading this, I want you to know you are not alone and you’ve already taken the only step you have to on your own: you’ve done the hard work of reaching out. With a specialization in
trauma
, my counseling approach considers the influence a client's life has on how he/she thinks, feels, behaves, and believes, along with the way the body holds unprocessed stress and pain.
"Well, this isn’t working! What do I do now?" If you are wondering this, I welcome whatever you have to discuss. I love to see a client walk into the room, bursting with the issues carried on the heart, and experience the relief that comes from finally sharing these burdens out loud in a safe space. I see mostly women and female adolescents, plus a few men who want to dig deep. I work best with people who are ready to explore, looking for change, but aren't sure of how to get there.

My background in treating childhood
trauma
has shifted into working with pregnant and postpartum families.
You envisioned your birth to be a beautiful beginning to your baby's life, and are now wondering how this could have happened. People say "at least you're okay and the baby is safe now." But it's not that comforting. You don't feel safe or confident that your baby is okay and you doubt yourself. Of course hormones are raging, but are all these feelings normal? You may be feeling helpless, scared, or grieving the freedom you had before becoming a parent. You have a constant voice asking you if you really are good enough and reminding you that everyone’s judging you for every decision you make as a parent.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
