I believe that you have the answers within you and I am here to help you find them. Therapy offers a steady presence when exploring and understanding current patterns by looking to the past and making meaning of what makes you who you are today. I aim to enhance self-awareness, identify values, challenge growth, and create deeper levels of self-compassion within a safe environment. My approach to therapy is rooted in a relational and
somatic
perspective. I believe here we can gain an understanding of your inner self by observing how you interact with the world and engage with the wisdom of your body.

I use a variety of approaches, including
somatic
and attachment focused EMDR, to help you heal from past hurts and become whole, strong, you again.
You're exhausted and overwhelmed by life, it's just too much and you feel like a failure. The to-do list goes on forever, the kids always need YOU and you're not sure that you're really enough. Maybe you've been feeling sad, anxious, irritable, and disconnected from those you love. Or when you first woke up this morning everything felt okay for a minute, but then you remembered, and it was like a punch in your gut, all the heartbreak and loss, all the pain, came rushing back over you. You want to feel like you again, to let go of the past, to be able to enjoy life and be present in the moment with the people that you care about.

I have a passion for working with trauma, phobias and anxiety, specifically sexual trauma. Using a combination of Rapid Resolution Therapy,
Somatic
Experiencing and brain science allows me to eliminate the emotional response my clients have to traumatic events. In a typical session clients are taught how the mind works and how to effectively take care of future stressors. My other passion is working with couples and helping them improve their relationship, both sexually and emotionally. Couples are taught how to use words and be aware of body response to decrease conflict.

I utilize
Somatic
Experiencing and EMDR, which both assist in healing nervous system dysregulation, build resilience, support stress management and can be used for trauma resolution.
It is my hope to partner with you in learning how to first be with and then move through life's painful experiences in such a way that feels authentic to you. If you have unresolved grief, trauma or other barriers to your ability to thrive, I would love to join you in opening new doors to embodied and conscious living. I enjoy working with folks from most walks of life, those with body-based concerns such as chronic illness, chronic pain or difficult to diagnose physical symptoms that may be having an impact on mental health.

Life can be difficult but therapy doesn't have to be. If you've talked about your struggles just to feel worse afterwards and see little to no progress, I'd like to introduce myself. You don't need to relive every past hurt or leave feeling emotionally drained by the end of session. Change is possible without years of therapy. Let me help you figure out what's holding you back and find real, practical solutions so you can live life the way you want to. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC-MHSP) with over 6 years of experience working with with children, adolescents, and adults.

Freedom is what you do with what's been done to you. - Jean-Paul Sartre. Does it seem like you have a stable life on the outside but find yourself wondering if ‘this’ is all there is? You wake up and a feeling is present that things aren't quite right or worse a sense of doom for the day ahead. You go through your day without seeing in full color or feeling fully present. You could be having dysfunction in relationships, your daily routines, or with your own self-perception. It is painfully clear that where you are emotionally and in your life and where you want to be are very different places.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
