I use an integrative and holistic approach — drawing from Internal
Family
Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, HRV Biofeedback, and my Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapy training, and other approaches.
I use my training and years of experience to build relationships with clients that produce wholeness and healing. I believe the care, trust, and honesty in the counseling relationship can help people move from surviving (maybe just barely) to thriving. I want my clients to experience renewal in their lives.

Finding a therapist can be a daunting task for individuals, couples, and families, especially when you are faced with challenges that you have not had to handle before. This might include addressing overwhelming emotions, figuring out how to have an enjoyable relationship with your partner, or figuring out how to have a relationship with your
family
again. Thankfully, it is never too late to work through these challenges.

I am a Marriage and
Family Therapist
with 16 years of experience. I am devoted to living this precious life well and to support others to do the same. The focus of my practice is to help others identify the habits and patterns operating in their lives that are not working in their best interests, then support them to find freedom from them, so that they are no longer haunted by the past, paralyzed by fears of the future, but rather are then free to pursue their hopes and dreams. Together we can allow the sirens of our symptoms to guide us toward health and wellbeing.

conflict and general reactivity are each common experiences in one's life. I work to provide an individualized treatment plan for each person walking through these common experiences. I believe that by fostering curiosity and compassion about ourselves and our own experiences, we learn to react to others in this same way. I work with a wide range of clients varying in age, demographics, beliefs, backgrounds and goals. I work to facilitate this curious and compassionate environment in which my clients can work toward decreasing reactivity through increasing self understanding.

If you desire to go further in receiving help, we would enjoy the opportunity to walk alongside you as you seek direction in your individual,
family
, or marital life in the pursuit of the love you long to have for yourself, and those you love.
We as human beings desire to be known, to love and to be loved. Often times, our attempts to give and receive the love we long for becomes tangled in a web of our past mistakes or the mistakes of others, leaving us feeling alone, arguing with our spouse, overwhelmed with anxiety, extreme sadness and hopelessness, and facing life circumstances we feel powerless to overcome. Counseling is a great opportunity to begin the process of handling these paralyzing issues in a safe environment. Seeking out help requires courage and pursuing counseling can be a scary process, so congratulations on taking the first step towards change.

I love working with children, adolescents, and their families as we tackle challenges that have taken place in their lives. Because I view things from a systems perspective, I believe it is very important for the
family
unit to be involved throughout the therapeutic process in an effort to help the
family
heal as a whole.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
