EMDR .
I believe that you have the answers within you and I am here to help you find them. Therapy offers a steady presence when exploring and understanding current patterns by looking to the past and making meaning of what makes you who you are today. I aim to enhance self-awareness, identify values, challenge growth, and create deeper levels of self-compassion within a safe environment. My approach to therapy is rooted in a relational and somatic perspective. I believe here we can gain an understanding of your inner self by observing how you interact with the world and engage with the wisdom of your body.

I have formal training in a variety of therapeutic techniques - including psychoanalytic psychotherapy, CBT, EMDR , mindfulness, play therapy, and Circle of Security Parenting.
Good therapy helps promote clarity and progress toward change. I believe that therapy can provide the safety needed for self-exploration and for support in times of stress. And I believe that this safety is created through a trusting therapeutic alliance, which I rely heavily on in my practice. As a clinical social worker, I provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults who have a broad range of reasons for seeking therapy - these may include anxiety, depression, family conflict, low self-esteem, relationship struggles, parenting concerns, trauma, and loss.

I utilize EMDR , DBT, CBT, and equine assisted psychotherapy.
Stressed? Tired? Can’t seem to get ahead? Don't like yourself? Finding that sense of security and strength in the midst of changes, challenges, and relationships is difficult, and some feel that taking time to stop and reflect is impossible; yet often it is one of the most important steps in moving forward or getting unstuck. Stopping and working with a trained therapist can help facilitate change in meaningful and impactful ways. It can also help avoid a complete life derailment. I believe that the work I do with my clients is sacred, which is why I employee some of the most up to date and clinically validated treatment techniques.

I am trauma-focused and offer a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focused treatment as well as am EMDR trained.
Hi! I’m Kate. If you’re here, you’re already brave. It takes tremendous bravery and courage to seek professional help, to sit with and process some feelings of hurt. I believe it to be an incredible privilege to work as a counselor. To be trusted with some of the most vulnerable places in an individual’s life is an honor and I will uphold your story with integrity. I believe in the concept of wellness, in healing the whole person rather than a diagnosis or a problem. I consider counseling to be beneficial for all people, regardless of what may bring someone into my space. I would love to work together towards a journey of healing!

I have completed basic training in EMDR which helps to reprocess difficult life events and focuses on building client's existing strength for future life challenges.
I love working with adults experiencing difficulties with managing stress, anxiety and depression. I will help to establish effective goals in addition to providing therapeutic support throughout your sessions. I want to assist you in creating manageable goals that you can progress towards with confidence. I like to focus with clients on how they may have learned a behavior and exploring where that has been beneficial or if it has been hindering a client growth.

Hypnosis and EMDR reach the subconscious, beyond thinking.
I transitioned into counseling in mid-life, following a 30+ year career in engineering and leadership, so I understand many of the challenges that life offers. I became a counselor because of a deep desire to help others, and a dance/movement therapist based on my experience with the healing power of dance. I enjoy helping people work through mental health issues and everyday challenges. I also enjoy helping people get in touch with the wisdom of their bodies. I know that everyone needs help from time to time and I would be honored to be an unbiased person who can help you.

I use Brain Spotting, an advanced EMDR technique, to allow the brain to rewire a trauma, creative block, phobia, etc.
I enjoy working with clients to clear past trauma or current blocks and assimilate the gifts that they discover within the process of unlocking habitual patterns and rejecting internal lies. I use mindful practice to support clients as they learn to become less judgmental of themselves and others and more compassionate. I believe that within this spaciousness we are able to open up into more of our true selves so that we have more insight and a broader view of our experiences. I see this as a creative, healing process.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
