As a Psychologist with over thirty years of practice, I have had the opportunity to work alongside individuals and families as they have faced physical, emotional, interpersonal, and intrapersonal life challenges. I often see clients with issues such as depression, anxiety /stress, life transitions, and adjustments to changes in health. While life challenges often shift our focus to what may feel fragile within, I passionately believe that we can find a place of inner strength and regain a sense of .wellness. Thank you for your time in reading about my practice; I look forward to the possibility of meeting with you.

Anxiety and Panic disorders are one of the most common complaints I come across.
I have a passion for working with trauma, phobias and anxiety , specifically sexual trauma. Using a combination of Rapid Resolution Therapy, Somatic Experiencing and brain science allows me to eliminate the emotional response my clients have to traumatic events. In a typical session clients are taught how the mind works and how to effectively take care of future stressors. My other passion is working with couples and helping them improve their relationship, both sexually and emotionally. Couples are taught how to use words and be aware of body response to decrease conflict.

My special interests pertain to female empowerment, maternal well-being, narcissistic parents, religion, grief, depression, and anxiety .
Life's challenges can lead us to a place where recognizing the person in the mirror becomes foreign. Wounds of the past may feel like hurdles that keep us from living the life we’ve wanted. The fights with your partner, the fear of the future, or desiring a sense of direction and meaningful connection can leave us feeling frozen, overwhelmed, and distanced from where we’d like to be. Your unique experience matters - which is why I work to foster empathy, openness, authenticity, safety, and caring challenges within therapy - to meet you where you are and journey beside you as you seek to find yourself and/or your relationship again.

My goal is to help you increase your feelings of self-worth, value, and self-esteem by exploring the emotions you're experiencing, lowering anxiety /depression, creating coping skills, and improving your ability to have healthy relationships.
Relationships build the context of our lives. We learn who we are from those around us. This exchange has the power to influence our thoughts and beliefs about ourselves. While relationships have the beautiful ability to build us up, encourage us, and support us, they also have the reverse effect. Have you ever been in a relationship that tore you down, made you question your worth, damaged your self-esteem, or left you wondering why you weren't enough? Have these unhealthy or toxic relationships hindered your ability to seek out and sustain a healthy one? This story doesn't have to be yours forever and you're not alone.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
