Attachment-based Therapists in Brentwood, TN
Perhaps you’re the one everyone depends on — capable on the outside, but anxious or overwhelmed underneath. Your mind replays conversations, anticipates worst-case scenarios, or struggles to turn off at night. You may be navigating a difficult relationship, family tension, people-pleasing patterns, or stress that never seems to let up. I work with teen girls, adults, and couples who feel this way.
You want relief - not just from anxiety, but from constant pressure. You want healthier boundaries, steadier relationships, and the ability to respond instead of react. Most of all, you want to feel calm, confident, and grounded again.

Trauma expert Peter Levine stated, "Trauma is perhaps the most avoided, ignored, belittled, denied, misunderstood, and untreated cause of human suffering." At Be Found Counseling, we believe this whole heartedly. We see people, just like you, every day who come in asking the question, "why am I like this?" We know you want to live fully, without feeling the weight of anxiety, depression, overwhelm, hurt of the past and the struggle in the present. We know you want to heal. We know you want to feel whole.

Grief has a way of shattering life as we have known it. Whether unexpected or foreseen, the pain of loss can overwhelm us and consume our lives. It's too much to bear alone and yet it's difficult to find a space where you have permission to grieve at your own pace and wrestle with the complexities of loss. You want to feel connected to others, but you feel like your grief is too much or misunderstood. You want to find words for the regret, the confusion, and what this means for the future and yourself. You’re ready to not be in so much pain but it’s not clear where to go or how to do that.

Big life transitions can be both exciting and overwhelming. Maybe you are navigating marriage, postpartum or parenthood and alongside the beautiful moments that come with these changes, you are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected and stretched thin. It can be disorienting to lose parts of your identity, feel the strain in your relationship, or notice old family patterns surfacing as you’re trying to build your life and grow your relationship and family. You feel the push and pull of knowing these moments are fleeting and wanting to soak up every minute while functioning in survival mode and counting down until bedtime.

Unless you've done intentional awareness work, your primitive brain is likely running your life. This may look like over or under reliance on those closest to you, leading to chronic frustration, disappointment, overwhelm and loneliness. Support can be impactful and life-changing.
Learning about your conditioned behaviors, the coping patterns that worked in childhood but are now destructive, and how to stretch your tolerance for new experiences - allows your anxiety to settle and builds a deeper acceptance of yourself and others - diminishing depression and isolation.

Have you been wounded? Many wounds occurred through relationships, and it is through relationship where they can be restored. Though not easy, many of those I work with begin to take risks, experience more meaningful relationships, and even a greater sense of joy in life. Real change is possible and I'd love to walk that path with you.

You've built a life that looks successful from the outside. The career. The reputation. The achievements. But underneath all of it, something isn't working. And it's been that way for a long time. Maybe it's the anxiety that never fully stops. The patterns you keep repeating no matter how hard you try. The exhaustion of performing a version of yourself that was built to survive, not to live. You've tried to out-work it, out-think it, out-achieve it. Yet, you're still here. It's not that there's something inherently wrong with you. It's a wound asking to be seen and healed.

I am passionate about working with adult women and older teen girls that are going through transformative and transitional years of life that are ready to take the next steps to grow through their stories, heighten their self-discovery, and discover their most authentic selves. I believe that is possible by providing a foundation of stability, inclusivity, support, belonging, and safety in our therapeutic relationship. My clinical interests revolve around transitions, anxiety/stress, trauma, relationships, self-esteem, women's issues (including pregnancy loss/infertility/high risk pregnancy), perinatal mental health, and grief/loss.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
