Along with CBT, I specifically enjoy introducing clients to mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing and meditation as it has been proven to reduce symptoms of anxiety, anger, and depression.
Life can come with many unexpected obstacles which can cause some overwhelming experiences. Oftentimes, our instinct is to retreat when faced with negative experiences or bury them deep inside. Some of us can feel like if we seek help, we will be a burden to others which makes sitting with that feeling even more difficult. As an African American woman, I understand the importance of having someone to be a source of healing and support when you're tired of fighting to move forward alone. I'm here to serve clients on a journey toward restoration and relief in a collaborative and safe environment.

Life has gotten messier than you would like. You've been getting by, but it just feels hard. You want someone to help you figure it out. Someone who won't judge you but will also help you get centered and free from what is just not working. You bring the materials (your life experiences, goals, and challenges). I'll bring the tools (vision, hope, support, calm, a voice of reason and expertise). Together we'll collaborate to build something - a life that feels meaningful, authentic, and is working for you.

As humans, we develop physically, emotionally, spiritually, and relationally throughout our lives. During our life our development becomes tested by typical and/or atypical challenges. How we respond to these challenges impacts our continued growth. I love working with people across the lifespan addressing these challenges during which learning, growth, and empowerment stem. I have a particular interest in working with children, adolescents, and young adults in their process of ‘becoming’.

I work with children, teens, and parents navigating anxiety, ADHD, anger, trauma, grief, perfectionism, and life transitions by helping build emotional regulation, strengthen connection, and support resilience.
Children and teens often show us they’re struggling long before they have the words to explain it. I use play therapy, Attachment-Informed and Systemic EMDR, Sandtray, a blend of neuroscience, and other developmentally appropriate approaches tailored to each child’s unique needs, strengths, and temperament to support growth and create meaningful change.

Another sleepless night kept awake either by nightmares, haunting images from the past, or memories that you can’t push away? You’ve tried almost everything to keep the past in the past, but no matter what, the past keeps showing up in all the reminders around you. The traumatic event(s) were awful enough, reliving them over again in your mind and body just seems unusually cruel. You’ve tried keeping up appearances at work, around family, but the more you try, the more disconnected you feel. As time moves on, you keep wondering if there’s something wrong with "you" that you can’t just “get over” them.

I am honored to work with individuals, and couples in an emotionally safe, caring, and confidential environment where trust and authentic communication are experienced. I am privileged to walk with clients on their journey if they are seeking to explore solutions to a specific concern of life, or of if they have a desire to move past the "state of survival" or complacency to "living fully" and experience life as we are designed to live. I am available weekdays, evenings, and occasionally weekends. For more information please go to my website.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
