It takes incredible courage to begin exploring the parts of yourself you’ve had to push away or keep hidden. I know that process can feel scary, but I want you to know you don’t have to do it alone. As a trauma therapist, I have a deep passion for helping people navigate big life questions; especially when it comes to identity, perfectionism, people-pleasing, sexuality, attachment wounds, or your relationship with substances. My main goal is to help you get to the root of your challenges, so you can truly feel more comfortable and at home in your own body. I identify as a queer and anti-oppressive therapist.

Whether you are navigating the complexities of religious trauma, narcissistic family dynamics, or the burnout of being a healthcare professional, your struggles are signals - not character flaws. When a plant wilts, we don’t blame the plant; we look at the soil, the light, and the water. As a trauma therapist, I help you identify the missing "nutrients" in your life. I specialize in helping LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and creative folks move from survival mode into a life that feels authentic and safe. In our work, we’ll go beyond the surface; unlearning rigid expectations of perfection and quieting the voice of shame.

There are so many ways we learn to cope with life, like people-pleasing, staying busy, perfectionism, isolating, or numbing out. Sometimes, without even realizing it, we carry these patterns with us long after we’ve outgrown the environments that shaped them. Together, we can create ways of living that feel more empowering and authentic to you. I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, free of judgement, honest, and grounded in trust.

Modern relationships are HARD. Maybe you have found it hard to find the right person or have started to question whether the person you are with now could possibly be the wrong person. It’s tough when you feel burned by or totally confused about your current marriage or dating situation. You’ve probably made choices or overlooked things that you now regret, yet, here you are. Or, maybe you have a relationship at work with a boss and coworkers who undervalue you or play favorites with others. Your work ethic and good ideas have long taken a backseat to putting out fires. Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
