Utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, my areas of clinical focus include stress, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, divorce, low self-esteem, social/relationship difficulties, and adjustment issues.
While there may be obvious reasons why one is experiencing emotional and/or behavioral difficulties, there may also be other contributing factors that are not as apparent. I believe that an integrated approach treating the whole person leads to a healthier and more empowered life.

I have worked with end of life issues through hospice, with children and adolescents struggling with learning and mental health issues, and most recently with adults who seek help to relieve symptoms of mood, anxiety and trauma disorders.
During the initial session clients will learn what to expect from therapy, an opportunity to discuss the issues that brought them to therapy, a thorough social and medical history, and a chance to express their goals for treatment.

I recognize that if you are looking into finding the right individual to be your therapist, that you are very likely navigating some really hard things. I want you to know that I've been there. I am a mom, a sober person, and a woman who has worked really hard to heal her relationship with her body. One of my golden rules to being a therapist is to never ask a client to do something that I wouldn't be willing to do (or haven't already done) myself. I am passionate about supporting my clients in their journey towards health, healing, and helping each individual take the steps needed to have the life they've always dreamt of.

You have taken such a brave step to seek support in your healing journey, but I know it was not easy getting here. You have found a way to get by just enough, but what you truly desire is to feel whole, pursue relationships fearlessly, and know yourself and others intimately. Healing from past wounds, becoming curious about your story and embracing forgiveness may be some of your goals, but you need help moving forward. The next steps may look like making sense of complex experiences and gaining hope for change.

When my clients come to me, they may recognize that something isn't quite right, and often are not sure what that "something" might be. They may have a mixed relationship with their past and struggle to integrate their experiences into a clear picture of their place in the world, or even to imagine a world where they can flourish. Sometimes they are aware of the specific traumas that have affected them, and sometimes all they know is struggle. My clients meet me with enough hope and courage to hold that first session, and I am privileged to walk with them from there.

These patterns may have protected you, but now they’re keeping you stuck: stuck in unfulfilling relationships, in anxiety that won’t quiet, in a constant feeling that something is missing, even if everything “looks fine” on the outside.
I specialize in helping people understand the “why” behind their patterns- especially in relationships, and develop the tools to create real, lasting change. Together, we’ll untangle what’s keeping you stuck, soothe the anxiety that keeps you second-guessing yourself, and reconnect you to what makes life feel meaningful so you can finally exhale.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
