Life is a journey that often consists of this constant and intricate dance between our desire to be at peace with who we are now, while becoming our ideal selves. Productivity culture can often contribute to our living in an internally anxious space that leads to a poor sense of self and creates urgency around evolving and growing. Not only can this dissonance make it difficult to enjoy the ride, but it can also negatively influence our relationships with others as we struggle to navigate the nuances of this journey. How can these desires live harmoniously? How do we find peace within ourselves and in our relationships with others?

As seen in Oprah Magazine, PopSugar, CBS TV, and several other major print and media publications, Radical Change Therapy is a group practice committed to helping our clients identify and unlearn destructive life, career, and relationship patterns that they began as a result of traumatic interpersonal experiences, such as mother-child trauma, daddy issues, toxic friendships, sibling rivalry, intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, spiritual abuse, and educational/workplace abuse. We are a group of diverse therapists who take pride in providing safe and brave spaces for clients.

Many of today's problems are a result of the complicated, fast-paced world in which we live; a world that threatens man's emotional stability. Clients come to counselors looking for hope. Many times they feel desperate, pursuing what seems like their last option. We want to help you address life, relationship or legal problems which are keeping you from having your best life experiences. We believe that you can and will succeed in making healthy life changes. We want to provide you with skills and tools which lead you to success and personal happiness. We provide individual counseling as well as group therapy and education. We offer monthly DUI school/class. We offer 8, 10 and 12 hour all day Anger Management Classes one time each month. Parenting classes available upon special request.

I have genuine empathy and compassion for individuals, marriages, couples, teens and women that are hurting. My practice was established for the purpose of restoring and sustaining wholeness in the lives of all people. Such wholeness is directed toward helping clients achieve more satisfying and productive lives in the contexts of their family, church, community and work place. This mission is accomplished in an environment that is grace filled, secure, caring, confidential, professional, and respectful of each person's life journey. I consider it an honor to walk alongside my clients on their journey towards healing. My therapy approach is highly collaborative. I value the therapeutic relationship more than any technique or theory itself. Initiating counseling is often a big and difficult step and I do my best to help you feel relaxed, comfortable and welcome. I am passionate about working with clients experiencing loss and grief. Many presenting issues come down to a loss- loss of a loved one, loss of a pregnancy, loss of hopes/dreams, loss of a marriage...and working through loss requires time, connection and a safe place.

As a solution focused therapist, my goal is to empower you to find your own strengths. My approach to therapy is to assist you to heal from past wounds and cope with current issues in nurturing and non-judgmental manner. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience working with many types of disorders - including learning difficulties, Attention Deficit Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorders, Marital/Relationship problems, Anxiety, and Depression.

Together we will find the right path, and right set of practical tools, to help you overcome obstacles and become your best self. After over a decade-and-a-half working in mental health, I am skilled in the latest, evidence-based therapies available (e.g., Relational Mindfulness and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy). But no single approach works for all people at all times and, remaining flexible, we will create a safe therapeutic environment with the best combination of techniques that works for you. So many different psychotherapies exist today because there is no one approach that works at all times.

I honed my helping skills providing over a decade of individual, couple, and family counseling and working several years in the crisis intervention and crisis stabilization field in the states of California and Virginia. My experience and knowledge equips me to share with others as a marriage and family therapist, minister, coach, consultant and author, and allows me to facilitate positive change in peoples' lives. As a helper of people, I understand that we, human beings, express our greatest potential when we discover and remove the obstacles that hinder our capabilities.

Therapy is more than talking about the past. It is a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere in which past hurts are resolved and healing takes place. Traumatic experiences can serve as blocks, preventing present and future peace.  At Wilkinson Family Therapy, we enjoy connecting with our clients as they travel along their journey. Marcia Lara is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Tennessee who has been practicing since 1997. She has a Master's Degree in Counseling/Psychology. Marcia uses an eclectic approach to therapy, with the goal of using the most effective form of treatment based on the client's needs. She goes by the motto, "it is less important to the client how much you know, as compared to how much you care. " Marcia speaks fluent Spanish, and although she is not Hispanic has had many years of experience working with the Spanish speaking population. She specializes in the treatment mood and anxiety disorders.
