Melissa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 25 years of experience in the field of social work. She has worked in a number of specialty areas, including addiction recovery, child and family welfare, community mental health, domestic violence, sexual assault, medical/inpatient, law enforcement, military, and Veterans. Melissa has extensive experience in working with PTSD and complex trauma. She is trained in Biofeedback, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), CPT (cognitive processing therapy), PE (prolonged exposure), and EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing).

My goal as a therapist, is to to help you reach your highest potential and reach the goals you have set for yourself. I have a strong passion for teens and young adult women but I enjoy working with anyone who is ready for a change and enjoys a direct, but supportive approach. My approach to therapy helps people build connections with themselves and implements different therapeutic approaches best suited for each client. I provide a safe space to help explore clients concerns and help navigate emotions and how they can impact daily life.

I believe when we focus on our mental health...other areas of our lives can improve. The first and hardest step is to reach out and find someone to help guide you. In my sessions, I use a client-centered approach to provide you with tools to reduce the pressures of life and achieve your personal goals. I enjoy counseling teens and young adults who are navigating growing up and becoming independent. I also enjoy working with those who have "more life experience." I too have gone through raising children, having them leave home and then finding your new purpose.

I have over 20 years experience in private practice and institutional settings. I work with individuals and couples. I use traditional talk therapy methods as well as instituting new approaches such as the use of EMDR for those suffering from trauma.

Hi there! I am a counselor who works with clients ages 13+ and am skilled in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, body image, self-esteem, anger management, and transition issues. I also have specialized training and experience working with older adults with dementia and other cognitive and age-related changes. Additionally, I see teenagers and adults of all ages who identify as LGBTQIA+ and am well-versed in helping clients who are questioning their identities, beginning the coming-out process, and/or transitioning. I am included as a recommended specialist for transgender mental health in the local OUTMemphis Resource Guide.
