In our work we see patients with depression attempt many different modalities of treatment (e.g., talk therapy and various antidepressant medications) but some find incomplete relief. We are excited to offer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) as an option for hope and relief to those individuals.
TMS has a novel, patient-specific, and targeted mechanism that has shown excellent response rates (>70%) in refractory patients with minimal short-term side effects. TMS can be an alternative to medication and can have lasting benefits after a relatively brief treatment period (4-6 weeks). Additionally, TMS recently gained American Psychiatric Association (APA) and Federal Drug Administration (FDA) approval for the treatment of treatment-resistant depression and is fully covered by Medicare, as well as some private insurance plans.
