Prior to pursuing my dream of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, I was a master level special education and general education teacher. As a result, I have extensive training and background in child development, Special Education, and issues a child might face both behaviorally and academically in the school setting. Therefore, I primarily work with children and their families to help develop coping skills, anger management strategies, and self-regulation strategies for anxiety. I highly encourage family participation and often help with parenting skills in order to aid in improving, overall, the effective function of the family system.
While I have extensive training and experience with children and adolescents, I have become more involved with counseling women, especially with past trauma. I work with women going through divorce, experiencing depression, anxiety, or who want to heal from past trauma.
My own personal experience allows me to be understanding and empathetic toward both children and women struggling with behavior issues, parenting struggles, trauma, or mental health issues.
