Psychotherapy can help us better understand ourselves, our histories, patterns and relationships. It is a tool that can increase clarity and direction so that we can move more confidently in the world. We are a complex mixture of our experiences, the relationships most significant to us, what we believe about and tell ourselves, and how we may view our purpose or place in the world. With this in mind, I aim to do a few specific things in my therapist role: To think about how we have come to be who we are, to accept this, and to create space within ourselves where we might exercise new or different ways of being.
I am a talk therapist who prefers working long term. I can facilitate the opportunity for people to really know and listen to themselves, including parts we may not like or have avoided. I rely on several schools of knowledge to inform my practice including psychodynamic, psychoanalytic and cognitive therapies, Buddhist, Taoist and Existential philosophies.
It is my intention to encourage you with compassion and without judgment, and provide a safe place for you to think, feel and heal. I understand the work can be difficult and at times painful, but it has been my experience that we do have capacity and can be resilient. We have the chance to get better, function better, and live better.
