I have counseling work experience in residential, community, school, and outpatient private practice. I have worked with clients from young children to older adults in dealing with family issues, substance issues, domestic violence and anger issues utilizing personal, psychoeducational, and psychosocial counseling services. I have spent the majority of my professional career working with families, parents, and children, involved with the Department of Family and Children Services working toward reunification and restoration of family relationships.
My orientation to counseling is based on a CBT approach from an existential viewpoint. I incorporate DBT and proven theories of counseling to assist clients in resolving challenges and learning new approaches to old problems as a means of experiencing personal and emotional growth.
Goals are co-constructed and tailored to the client's needs according to their desire to accomplish change and resolve perceived and actual conflict in their lives, substance abuse, grief and trauma, in accordance with current standards of practice and ethics in the field.
