Dr. Tim Kelly is a licensed clinical psychologist based in Franklin, Tennessee. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville and is licensed to practice in both California and Tennessee. Over the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Kelly has served on the faculty of several major universities, including Vanderbilt University, American University, and Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. He also held a key leadership role in public service as Commissioner and CEO of the Virginia Department of Mental Health.
With over 30 years of experience providing psychological care in both the U.S. and China, Dr. Kelly specializes in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for a wide range of behavioral health concerns. His areas of expertise include mood and anxiety disorders, relationship challenges, identity development, and life stage transitions.
Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Kelly is a passionate musician who enjoys playing acoustic guitar and singing. He has performed on numerous stages in both the U.S. and China. Alongside his musician wife, he presents “Musical Mindfulness,” an engaging lecture-concert experience designed to reduce stress, elevate mood, and enhance coping skills.
