As first responders and emergency workers, you’re trained to stay sharp. But that “sharp” can follow you home. After shift, you try to switch into real life, but your system keeps running hot: short fuse, restless sleep, feeling “on” even when you’re off, or going straight to numbing out.
Sometimes it goes deeper—experiences replaying, a startle response that won’t shut off, or numbness that lands on the people you care about. This isn’t weakness. It’s a nervous system on high alert. Our goal together is to build new recovery habits that fit your schedule, strengthen your regulatory system, and stay steady and effective at work.
Therapy should make life easier: less edge, more patience, faster decompression.
We’ll keep it practical, with clear goals and week-to-week tracking. We’ll use EMDR if trauma symptoms are present—an evidence-based treatment for reducing hyperarousal and shutdown. I worked for eight years as a crisis counselor, and I’m familiar with emergency work culture.
You absorb intensity most people never have to hold. Unfortunately, your load requires release, or it bleeds into personal time.
I tailor treatment to emergency workers: direct, grounded, results-first. We focus on symptom change—so you’re less reactive, less numb, and able to actually recover between shifts.
