I am Tom Zumwalt. I have thirty two years experience in the mental health field. I attended the University of Tulsa and Oklahoma University. I am licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have worked in psychiatric hospitals, residential hospitals, ICF facilities, in-home services and nursing homes. I have worked with children and families, clients with multiple challenges, physical and mental, adults and geriatric population that have given me a well rounded perspective. My style of therapy is always non judgemental and empowering.
During our sessions, we find a starting point the client is most comfortable with adding goals that will create success and momentum to make further changes. There may be short term goals and long term goals, depending on the issues to be addressed.
In the first session, I hope to build rapport and establish a bond of trust. I hope to identify issues to be addressed. I also want to gather background information/history of these issues. My ultimate goal of the first session is for us both to know we are going to be a good fit.
