I often work with clients dealing with anxiety, grief, feelings of stuckness or dissatisfaction, and other issues that may require new ways of approaching themselves, others, and the world in which they live.
Generally, I draw from approaches that utilize insight, exploration, and a therapeutic relationship based in respect, acceptance, and attunement. I'm also comfortable applying principles and techniques from more skills-based and behaviorally-oriented approaches when appropriate.
In addition to symptom reduction and improved functioning, I try to aid clients in finding paths and opportunities in their lives that offer meaning and enrichment. In other words, the goal is not the restoration of a previous status quo but the creation and discovery of a new and fruitful way forward.
