About
Using Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), I will help you recognize ways in which your attempts to suppress, manage, and control negative emotional experiences can create more problems. By recognizing and addressing these problems, you will have a way out of suffering by choosing to live a life based on what matters most to you. The goal is to stop you from getting caught up in painful thoughts feelings, and experiences that may leave you feeling stuck, frustrated and suffering.
You will learn to disengage from painful thoughts and feelings through acceptance and mindfulness skills, to develop psychological flexibility and to build life-enhancing patterns of behavior. I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York since 2007. I am an adjunct lecturer of psychology at Dominican College and at Bergen Community College.
I earned a Master of Arts degree from the Teachers College, Columbia University in Psychology in Education, and a Master of Science degree from Mercy College in Mental Health Counseling. I interned at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital in Katonah, NY; Daytop Village in Blauvelt, NY; and Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg NY.
