I support individuals, families, and couples to assist with improving communication, as well as strengthening and healing bonds. Sometimes, when these bonds cannot be healed, it is a matter of accepting the fact that we cannot change others. Instead, I help clients focus on their own thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. I came to the counseling world after 30+ years in private practice as a pediatrician. Having worked with many families, I developed a keen insight into parent-child relationships, navigating the tween years, and launching young adults into the real world.
Initial sessions involve gathering information and listening to what brought the individual, family, or couple to therapy. I often use solution-focused brief therapy, which is a short-term, goal-oriented approach to psychotherapy that focuses on the client's strengths and resources to help them achieve their desired future outcomes.
Therapy comes down to change and the willingness to do so.
