I have been in practice for 30 years. I have learned we all seek to feel valued & safe in our relationships. Sometimes when we are not feeling valued we become angry & in the process self defeating in our behaviors. My goal is to help clients gain confidence so they are better able to get their needs met within their relationships.
When working with people who struggle with anxiety & depression, I first try to help them understand that some of their behaviors/emotions are symptoms. Just like a stuffy nose is a symptom of a cold, lack of motivation, irritability, & fatigue are symptoms of depression. In terms anxiety, people are often trying to do too much.
