Finding the right match in a counselor is a daunting challenge. It can be stressful to find a competent and caring professional who can listen to your concerns and help you find a way forward. In my experience, people have unique needs, backgrounds, and challenges. Even common mental health challenges like anxiety and depression look different for each person. I therefore collaborate with clients to find an individualized counseling approach that works best for each person. I draw from a variety of counseling theories, including person-centered therapy, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and existential therapy.
I have provided professional counseling services since 2006. I work with individual adults and couples. Informed by my work as a professor, I have extensive experience with anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, grief and loss, self-esteem, and gender identity and sexuality issues, including clients who identify as LGBT.
