I enjoy working with every individual of all ages, but I absolutely love working with children and teens. I tailor my approach based on what the client needs. I use play or art therapy as play is the language of the children. It helps them to express their internal world when they have no words for it. I have completed the core competencies for Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) under International Model. PCIT is an evidence-based intervention that promotes positive parent-child relationships while reducing disruptive behaviors at home. I am also a certified Positive Discipline Parenting Educator.
Building the connection with my clients is important to me because it helps to develop the trust in the therapeutic relationship. I provide a place where clients feel safe to share their feelings and thoughts and that I am there to support the growth and healing process.
Throughout the therapy process, I want to help and support my clients to acquire the tools and/or skills to deal with unexpected and oncoming unique situations throughout life. Having those tools and skills allows them to have a higher threshold for feeling ungrounded, anxious and other unnerving feelings.
