About
Many people with eating disorders have a history of traumatic experiences, but I also believe that the eating disorder is a traumatic experience itself. When we treat eating disorders, we are treating trauma. People with eating disorders are often very accomplished because they are so hard-working and caring, but I always find myself wondering, what more could their life hold for them in recovery? How much more could they enjoy their accomplishments and their lives? In addition to working with patients individually, I specialize in family based treatment, which helps families learn to support their loved ones' recovery at home.
I have treated eating disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings for more than 20 years and can assess the level of care and resources you need. It is important to address any other issues you may have such as personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety and trauma. I provide treatment for these issues, whether or not an eating disorder is present.
I have worked with eating disorders as a clinician/advocate since 2000 and stay up to date on the latest research and best practices. Recovery takes time. People with eating disorders are full of beautiful potential, but trapped in dangerous behaviors, torturous thoughts The good news is that with your hard work and the support you deserve, you can recover.
