James L. Colter's therapy focuses on the immediate need of the client. He understands that clients need to feel trust and safety before they share some of their most pressing feelings and emotions. His goal is to develop a client-therapist relationship that will provide safety, confidentiality, and support. This allows the client to feel validated and understood as he explores their feelings and emotions. Additionally, he takes special care in personal awareness to provide clients with a safe environment that is free from judgement or bias no matter what cultural or status scenarios present themselves.
James draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities such as, Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness and awareness techniques in sessions, in order to offer the client the best therapeutic experience.
