The Koch Center's Groups
Social Skills Groups - several preschool thru HS
The Koch Center (Waldwick, Montclair) offers social skills groups for children preschool through high school. Groups meet for 1 hour per week and are 8 weeks in length. Children are placed with peers who are of a similar age and developmental level. Individual feedback is available to parents to keep them updated on ways they can facilitate their child's improvement at home. Group facilitators are currently conducting assessments for new groups. Contact Dr. Koch at 201-670-6450 x1 to schedule a screening for your child.
DBT Groups for Adults and Teens
The Koch Center offers Dialectical Therapy (DBT) Programs for Adults, Adolescents, and Middle Schoolers. DBT teaches skills that help the individual identify and cope with distressing thoughts and feelings. Often, these feelings have been interfering with the individual's ability to function and enjoy life. Our DBT Skills Groups foster the capacity to experience a full emotional life without becoming overwhelmed or overwhelming others. Skills are practiced using exercises such as completing homework and diary cards and recording thoughts and behaviors. We have evening groups that run throughout the week. Check our website for current schedule.
Outpatient Trauma Program
The Koch Center's Trauma Program is a one-night per week (Tuesdays 6-9pm) group-based outpatient program that incorporates mindfulness, body-focused therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and a Seeking Safety Trauma Protocol. The Trauma Program at The Koch Center is an innovative program that was developed based on current brain-based research by pioneers in the trauma field, most notably Bessel van der Kolk, MD.
