About
A child (all ages) goes from a less structured environment (home) to school. This can be a challenge on so many levels. The system is desiring for conformity and the child does not wish to leave it's creativity side. So teaching those special kids (all ages) to navigate their own forest of confusion. Their issues are many at so many levels, feeling lost, unaccepted and ultimately not valued. This harms their self worth, identity, and perception of how they fit in or whether they fit in at all. They want to discern on how to find those who they need to fit in with. This is a life long process of the search.
I can relate to their journey and discovering the landmarks along the way. Talk, play, and learning are the processes of the journey. I would be their guide as we share stories from our different, yet similar, journeys.
To be patient, non judge mental guides along the way. To be less structured that to only available when you have an appointment. Therapy is a relationship which has less structure and more surprises. You are the patient’s cheerleader and coach, celebrating their successes and failures.
