You may feel alone, but you are not. We’re here to help. The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh provides specialized counseling services to individuals, families, couples, and children. We work with all individuals and family types, without discrimination.

Erika Schmitt has been at The Children's Home since 2006 and has provided counseling since that time. She has experience working with all races as well as LGBTQIA+ population. She can see clients virtually or in person. She especially enjoys counseling in the realm of infertility, pregnancy, donor conception, grief, and reproductive trauma.

Infertility Support Group

We offer an active infertility support group that is held monthly. These are currently being held in hybrid format- with online and in person options, and we welcome individuals from anywhere to join with us. This group is free of charge. This is an open support group and while professionally led, the goal of the group is for attendees to seek support and learn from each other. We typically meet the last Monday of each month.

This group is for individuals who voluntarily placed a child for adoption or are considering placing a child for adoption. This is an open group that meets most months and is free of charge. The group helps women and couples process the grief and loss associated with choosing adoption for their child and connects them to others with similar experiences. The group is appropriate for those who just placed or who placed many years ago and we typically have clients in various stages in attendance. The group currently meets hybrid, with in person and online options to attend.
