I focus on unresolved family of origin issues that typically result in the child never outgrowing appropriate insecurity. This then becomes inappropriate insecurity in adulthood which compromises the emotional quality of life in intimate relationships. This adult emotional insecurity manifests itself when a person unknowingly becomes excessively emotionally or physically dependent upon other human beings or activities for that emotional or physical nurturing. The loss of this nurturing will then trigger emotional stress. When this emotional stress becomes chronic, psychological and physiological problems can occur. I identify and teach my clients how to overcome this lifelong insecure thinking and behaving.
I provide one on one individual therapy in a safe, private confidential setting. Changing habitual unhealthy thinking and behaving is not easy for anyone. This change however is possible if the client is open minded, honest and motivated, in spite of emotional misery, in following through on agreements made in therapy.
My expertise is in treating mood disorders such a clinical depression, anxiety disorders as well as treating quality of life issues. I don't provide marriage counseling but will treat married couples individually when appropriate. My therapy model is Christian based and therefore compatible with most denominations.
