Thus, my techniques include but are not limited to Adlerian techniques and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
I believe that clients have the ability to interpret, influence, and create events that will resolve their problems and add meaning to their lives with my assistance as a counselor. Clients have the power to manage their own behaviors, thoughts and feelings. As a counselor, I hope to develop within clients a greater self-awareness through their perceptions of life experiences that will build confidence, create change, and provide them a greater capacity to effectively navigate the complex challenges of life.

From an Adlerian approach, I want to help encourage and empower clients to use their strengths to attain their goals. I incorporate mindfulness awareness such as breathing and grounding techniques. I also specialize in sand-tray therapy-an effective intervention that helps clients better articulate their past trauma, feelings and emotions, and has been powerful in the healing of depression, grief, addiction, and anxiety in teens and adults. Our counseling center offers an Intensive Outpatient Program for substance abuse, to include individual and group counseling. Finally, I encourage the client to lead their own sessions to heal.

I integrate techniques from Existential, Humanist, Adlerian , and Reality-Choice Theories.
I work with adults who have grown hopeless, cynical, burned out, and tired of the never-ending cycle of addiction, distraction, malaise, and who have a restless desire to break free from the status quo. You may have almost given up, but you're holding onto hope that there's still a reason to keep trying to find another way out of this muck. If you're struggling with shame, regret, and life crises manifesting as depression, anxiety, or personal, relationship, and career problems, and you have found escape in destructive, repetitive patterns you'd like to stop, please reach out. I'd love to help you find a way to create something new.

My therapeutic philosophy involves utilizing a holistic approach incorporating Gestalt and Adlerian therapies. As a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in athletes, children, adolescents, and young adults, I frequently work with clients experiencing issues related to poor sport or school performance, life changes during adolescence, life transitioning from college to career, parenting issues, sibling relationships, and divorce family transitioning. Topical issues may include low self-esteem , ADHD, transitioning from athletic identity, peer relationships, anger management, self-mutilation, eating disorders, and self-empowerment. A fundamental element in my approach is establishing the therapeutic relationship through rapport and building trust between the client and the therapist.

We will do so by using an eclectic approach of various therapeutic methods, such as CBT, Adlerian and EMDR trauma therapy.
Life is such a struggle. You are in a season where you need a safe place to be authentic and can work through the challenges you are facing. Relationships aren't supposed to be this difficult, or so we think... We all have experiences and traumas, big or small, that effect the way we feel and respond, and often times make us feel stuck. It's never too late to work through the past so that you are able to live in freedom. There is always hope for change.

My approach is guided by Experiential and Somatic Therapy, with Adlerian influences.
We turn to counseling when our problems with our partners/family have us feeling misunderstood and helpless, or when we’ve lost a sense of who we are and our desires, or feel out of control. These struggles, among many others, in combination with daily responsibilities and challenges can feel extremely overwhelming and hinder our ability to thrive. As a therapist, my intention is to provide an authentically safe and holistic therapeutic space that promotes healing, exploration, and growth.

I utilize a variety of evidenced based treatment approaches to work with clients; including EMDR, Gestalt and Adlerian techniques, Positive Psychology, and CBT.
I have been working with clients and patients in a clinical capacity for just over a decade. I have worked extensively in hospital settings and continue to provide Telehealth support for triaging clients in crisis. In private practice I treat clients with depression, adjustment disorders, anxiety, parenting challenges, misunderstood teens, and more. Clients want to be heard! They want a safe place to express themselves, free of judgement. They want to know that they are not alone, in whatever battle they are fighting. I think people long for connection; connection to not things but to people and experiences.

I incorporate Adlerian , Person-Centered, emotion focused and somatic therapy to collaborate with clients, to live a more intentional and purposeful life.
I strongly believe that the most important part of therapy is the relationship with client and therapist. Therefore, I meet clients where they are with compassion and warmth, while also sensitively challenging them to rebuild, and adopt healthier perspectives of themselves and the world. I am passionate about helping clients rediscover themselves using a holistic lens, connecting mind to body, as I view each client in a unique and whole perspective.

How can I find a therapist in Texas?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
