Having problems with communication in your relationship? Are there topics you can't discuss? Does it leave you feeling upset and withdrawn? These are natural feelings. Relationships can be hard- they take work. You may be thinking "We can't go on like this. I just don't know what to do." But there is hope-you can feel better. As a Certified

I use a combination of techniques based on attachment theory,
Imago
Therapy, and Gottman couples therapy.
My primary focus is working with clients who want to create healthier relationships and have more fulfilling connections. This can be for couples or singles. Issues related to family of origin, friendships, intimate relationships, and relationships within families are often addressed in sessions. I also have experience with those struggling with anxiety, worry, and stress. In therapy I believe it is my role to be with clients on their journey of self discovery and acceptance and to build a healthy client-therapist relationship that they can take out into the world and use to build strong connections with others.

A therapist is like a dentist. We can avoid them for a while, and sometimes we find one we like or don't like. Eventually, though, everyone needs to see one. Therapy won't solve your problems, but it will help equip you with the tools you need to get through. We offer in-person and video sessions, and see children to adults. We have several groups available, and we accept insurance and offer a sliding scale. We believe therapy is for everyone. Contact us for a free consultation. Even if you don't end up seeing a therapist with our practice, we can help you find someone that you connect with.

I am a certified EMDR practitioner and consultant and am either trained or informed in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy),
IMAGO
, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), EFIT, expressive therapies, and motivational interviewing.
What drew me to the counseling field was my passion to advocate for people who have experien trauma (relational, spiritual, physical, sexual, emotional, and more). I take an eclectic approach, meeting you wherever you are in the process and tailoring treatment based on my extensive training in trauma modalities. I cherish this process and helping survivors heal. As a mother of two, I have plenty of material to pull from and am equally passionate about working with parents, especially those who are facing parenting transitions and blended families. With support, validation and humor, I can help make parenting fun again.

I have helped couples for 30 years to transform their relationship using
Imago
Relationship Therapy. I teach couples a communication skill set that foster emotional maturity and respect. This changes relationships. Being in relationship can be challenging during the second stage of relationship when the newness recedes and irritations begins. The
Imago
model increases consciousness and healing around the origins of conflict. This awareness empowers couples in their ability to change so they are no longer victims to dysfunctional patterns. I incorporate a psycho-spiritual approach in my
Imago
work as well as individual counseling.

With couples, I utilize
Imago
Relationship Therapy to help partners recommit and reconnect.
I believe that many in our society feel lost and alone, disconnected from the greater whole. Change happens within the context of a safe, caring relationship with another human being, and individual healing can ripple outward to friends, family, and eventually the wider world.

Have you been struggling to connect with your partner or family? Is it becoming harder to understand one another and resolve conflict? If you are seeking relief from these common relationship stressors, I can help! Initiating couples or family therapy is anxiety provoking, since most of us would rather not talk about the things that bother us - and this makes sense! Why would we want to talk about intense topics such as trust, anger, intimacy, money, or parenting? But you're here and it's very brave to start therapy and face challenges, because ultimately it is what helps us enhance connection and strengthen relationships.

I've trained in
Imago
Relationship Therapy, and holistic modalities including yoga, acupuncture, and meditation.
Anxiety, depression, and relationship strain are all signs of change trying to happen. Often fear holds us back from challenging ourselves and our relationships. What we need is security, loving acceptance, and healthy curiosity. You may fear that you are stuck, that your partner will never change to meet your needs, or perhaps you are predestined to being unhappy or alone. I help people create relationships where they are comfortable enough to grow. It's through authentic relationships that we find the strength to dream big. Together we can find deep and meaningful connection and insight, find joy in our tears, trust, and grow.

Contrary to popular opinion that can characterize therapy as designed for unhealthy or dysfunctional people, my experience and belief is that therapy is for people seeking to improve their lives and their relationships. Whether it is a relationship with ourselves, with a spouse, partner, family or friends, many of us long for better connections and more empowerment in our lives. The good news is that we can learns skills to live more satisfying lives. Research on brain plasticity validates that we can change. Research also suggests we tend to do what we have already done, whether it works or not! Therapy can change this!

How can I find a therapist in Texas?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
