My areas of expertise include anxiety, relationship difficulties, and work-related issues. I am also passionate to serve those whose trauma has affected their lives in many ways; I work with them to empower themselves and gain control of their life path. Additionally, I have experiences working with individuals struggling to determine their cultural identity and navigate complex multicultural issues that manifest in relationships and professional settings. I am bilingual in Vietnamese and English and provide therapy in both languages.

I am fluent in English and Vietnamese , and I provide psychotherapy to a diverse population and in all age groups.
Acculturation is the process of adopting cultural traits or social norms of another group, and is a common experience for individuals who have migrated. People who migrate often encounter stress and adjustment problems with limited access to mental health support. Relationship and family conflicts, traumatic experiences, life transition challenges, loss, problems related to boundary setting, poor self-esteem and self-concept are common issues, only to name a few. The goal of therapy is to help you become most resilient and adaptive in your family and community by managing these challenging circumstances.

I am fluent in Cantonese and Vietnamese .
I provide individual and couples therapy to older adolescents and adults. My approach to therapy mainly draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I have additional training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). While I tend to draw from CBT, I incorporate other styles and techniques to tailor each session to meet the needs of each person I work with. I believe the most important and healing aspect of therapy is the relationship that is created between myself and the person sitting across from me.

You’re hitting a breaking point in your life or relationship and need help from someone who gets it. You feel overwhelmed and worried about your relationship all the time. There’s this voice inside your head telling you that “I’m the problem” when things go wrong. Before you know it, you learn to downplay your needs or bargain your values to “fix it.” Yet the problem is still there. Instead of feeling valued and loved, you feel lost and hurt in the relationship that once cheered you up and gave you the encouragement to be you. You find yourself wondering if your partner still wants you and if you’re enough.

"You are here on earth because there is something that only you can do!" Choosing Now as the time to act and being fully present in your body and in your relationships will take you to infinite possibilities. All of life's answers lie in how deep you are connected to yourself. Do not turn your attention elsewhere to look for the truth, for it is nowhere to be found but within your body.

Life has changed drastically for most of us in the last few years. The challenge of living in today’s environment makes it even harder to navigate our internal states let alone manage them well. Whether we are juggling work, children, family, marriage or life’s daily challenges, there is no doubt we can use a lot of support. Connecting to a meaningful source of support is essential to our well being and our thriving, not to just merely survive in life. Sometimes we may know what we want, but don't know how to get there or feel we can't. Sometimes we feel stuck in our difficult emotions.

We change our behavior when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of changing. Consequences give us the pain that motivates us to change. -H. Cloud. Change is always hard but often necessary and attainable with the appropriate guidance and tools. I enjoy working with a wide range of issues in adolescents, adults, and couples, and I have extensive experiences with these populations. I work best with clients who are self-motivated and seek therapy on their own so they are ready to apply themselves outside of therapy.

Do you feel overwhelmed or have reached a standstill in your life and relationships where you are searching for change? Know that you have the ability to ask for help and for someone to provide a helping hand. As humans, we just want to be heard and seen, loved and respected. These are the nuances when it comes to having human relationships and experiences with our loved ones. As a therapist, I will help to provide for you a safe space, where judgements are thrown out the window, and allow for you to process your emotional, inner world, whether that be with a partner/spouse, family member(s), or solo.

I enjoy working with college students, professionals in healthcare, caregivers, singles that are dating/looking to date, single parents, newly divorced or separated, and specifically young adult couples looking to improve their relationships amidst juggling school, work, new baby, or life transitions. In today's fast-paced society, it is hard to feel heard. Life can be tough and struggles are challenging to overcome alone. My top priority is to provide you with a safe space to find hope and relief. I believe clients play an expert role in their life. My job is to listen and make observations that will help you gain perspective. I value the combined effort between client and counselor. Together we will explore how you see the world and construct a treatment plan based on your specific goals. My approaches to counseling include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered and solution focused therapy.

My treatment philosophy is to provide a safe and supportive environment for my clients to share their unique experiences, gain additional insights, and learn positive coping skills to maximize psychosocial functioning. Psychotherapy is a collaborative effort between therapist and client, where the client is an active participant. Together, we work on developing individualized treatment goals and interventions using a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities. As a clinical social worker, I believe my client's relationship with the environment is essential in fostering healthy mental, emotional, and behavioral functioning.

How can I find a therapist in Texas?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
