The last years have been trying years for everyone. Perhaps they brought new behaviors from your partner, family member, or yourself. Maybe they reminded you of past traumas. Many have "big T" traumas like abuse or near-death experiences. We all have some "little t" traumas, like feeling rejected by others. Part of us gets stuck back to when we experienced the trauma. But you don't have to stay there! You can be free of the grip of both "big T" & "little t" traumas. These no longer have to affect you, your relationships, or many other things. Sign up today for a consultation at drdanielakrotzer.com.

Mind your mind! When should you seek a therapist? When you are not feeling as happy as you used to or as you wish to. Psychotherapy helps strengthen your mental health by increasing your awareness about how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence your life. Once awareness has been gained, this will open up more choices and possibilities for change. I like to see us as a partners in this process. You can expect to be asked lots of questions, share feelings and be committed to change.

We are more than the sum of our parts. We are complex and beautiful. We seek to feel alive, feel loved. To achieve long lasting change and well-being it is essential to address an ailment/symptom at its roots and consider the full mind, body, and spirit connection, our environment, and the whole system in which we aim to function. Using treatment to address a symptom might not address the issues that causes the symptom. Holistic Counseling looks at the whole picture, not just the color that is peeling off the picture's corner. I truly believe each person has the capacity, strength, and ability to flourish and achieve their goals.

Life is complex, and at times, it is also overwhelming. You may feel stuck, or as if you are caught between two, or more, strong forces pulling you in different directions. I believe that therapy can be a potent, collaborative process in which we can work together to untangle the different components of your concerns, to sit in tension with these components without becoming overwhelmed, and to restore peace in your life. I enjoy working with all issues affected by social identities, such as gender and sexuality, and I specialize in men's issues.

Most people work very hard on managing their personal lives and relationships, academic, or professional pursuits, and their various goals and interests. However, often things don’t go as planned, and we are faced with very challenging, even painful situations, and we could benefit from receiving additional support. Seeking help and support is a strength and an important step to change and growth. I believe that therapy should be highly collaborative, where we work together to evaluate life experiences, relationships, strengths, and areas you wish to develop.

Are you looking for quick results and relief? Is that even possible? Yes, it is! EMDR or ART might be the right type of therapy if you are looking for effective short-term treatment. Long-term therapy can last several weeks, months, sometimes even years, often without the relief clients hope to find. Now imagine not spending an excessive amount of time and money (compared to traditional therapy) to reach your goal! Let me help you better manage your PTSD, trauma(s), anxieties, and self-confidence concerns with EMDR or ART. Want even quicker results? Consider EMDR intensive sessions, which is the speediest therapy with rapid results.

I believe that life is a series of adjustments and living with painful memories or troubling feelings is exhausting. I would love the opportunity to support you and guide you along your journey. The most important piece between the client and therapist is the clinical rapport. I provide a safe and non-judgmental environment. I view psychotherapy as a collective process between client and therapist. I help people who are suffering from anxiety and depression, people who feel stressed and people who have experienced painful and traumatic life events.

Our field has been ready for a different kind of therapy approach for a long time! Along with traditional evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques, I use alternative, complementary, adjunctive, holistic, and integrative modalities. Neuroplasticity is our goal and the brain-body connection is my passion! I focus on the interface between physical health, mind/brain health, and spiritual factors that contribute to overall mental and physical health. Using my 11-point system, I help people restore their life balance. I got your back and you are in a safe place. I now offer neurofeedback!

How can I find a therapist in Texas?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
