I also happen to have a strong grasp on how to treat people with
substance use

I'm a bit of a jack of all trades when it comes to therapy, and I haven't found a client that I couldn't work with yet! I can work with a client who knows exactly what they want out of therapy, and I can also work with clients who aren't sure of how to move forward. I make sure that I will only work as hard as you do, so I love working with people who want to be pushed to make progress. For me, as long a client wants to come to therapy, I will do what I can to help you.

I believe the transforming power of psychotherapy begins with a connection between you and I. Our conversations create a safe space for you to explore your life and grow in the confidence of your worth, your aspirations, and your life circumstances. From this awareness comes a deeper knowing of yourself and a more effective "hands on" capacity for dealing thoughtfully and constructively with the challenges of life. Together, we define your goals for therapy, and together we create the path to make these goals your reality.

Have you even felt powerless? Maybe you’ve felt it in a relationship, or in your family, or at your job. Maybe sometimes you feel powerless against your own mind. I believe that there’s a deep well of power that exists inside you. All you have to do is find it. I would be honored to take that journey of self-discovery with you. You are far more powerful than you know, and I hope to help you see it.

Recovery of any form is a part of the human condition. As a therapist, I look at recovery as a journey that I assist in. I work with folks who are wanting to learn more about themselves, and further a personal recovery identity. This includes (but is not exclusive too), eating disorders and
substance use
disorders.

There’s a lingering discomfort when you enter a new environment. You feel on edge- wavering between the desire to live authentically yet trying to hide just enough to go unnoticed. The guard you built up for protection from unsolicited looks or critical remarks is getting too heavy. You’re exhausted from the constant worries of facing rejection from those around you. The harmful comments against the LGBTQIA+ community startle you backward towards “the closet”- the tribulation of your sense of self-sacrifice for the comfort of others. Even though you fight hard to regain your autonomy, it’s difficult to claim that pride alone.

I primarily work with clients within queer community, especially trans folks, and lifestyles such as kink, polyamory, or sex work. My hope is to provide a safe space (and a sliding scale!) where you don't have to spend your time in therapy educating your therapist on the concepts that are everyday within your own life. I love work around emotional regulation, communication and conflict resolution, with individuals and with multiple people within a relationship, to help develop healthier coping mechanisms, processing techniques, and self-acceptance/self-care methods to improve feelings of empowerment, security, and life satisfaction.

I see therapy as a collaborative effort. Two humans with different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and beliefs work together to establish a direction for therapy that aligns with the client’s goals and evolving needs. This approach is most successful when both parties engage in sessions genuinely and authentically. Unfortunately, our society can be threatening to people as they step outside their social roles and into their authentic selves, making feelings of safety difficult to access. Consequently, I am committed to fostering a therapeutic environment that allows for open communication, trust, exploration, and growth.

How can I find a therapist in Texas?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
