Therapy is a safe place to explore challenges in our lives & find strengths that we never knew we had. It has the potential to lift us out of our rut so that we can finally make the changes we've longed for. Whether you are working to decrease your anxiety, transitioning out of being a competitive athlete, changing careers, exploring your gender identity, or trying to change your relationships, therapy can be a great place to get a fresh perspective & face these challenges with a champion by your side. My own identity as a multiracial, queer , gender nonconforming therapist enables me to understand clients who feel like outsiders.

My specialty is with people in the LGBTQ + community.
I'm a bit of a jack of all trades when it comes to therapy, and I haven't found a client that I couldn't work with yet! I can work with a client who knows exactly what they want out of therapy, and I can also work with clients who aren't sure of how to move forward. I make sure that I will only work as hard as you do, so I love working with people who want to be pushed to make progress. For me, as long a client wants to come to therapy, I will do what I can to help you.

I am devoted to working working with the LGBTQIA + Community in individual and relationship therapy.
Life can be challenging, especially when you are perceived as different. The world can be cruel to people who are unique and it can lead to feelings of: shame, loneliness, anxiety, fear, and sadness. Please know that you are not alone in this. I offer a safe place where you can allow your authentic self to emerge. Through our connection in therapy, we can explore your challenges and strengths. Using our relationship in session as a guide, you will have the opportunity to discover new insights and move towards your goals. My work centers on helping relationships and adults.

From my own personal experience of exploring and understanding my own identity (sexuality, gender, ethnicity and more), to my education/experience around working with LGBTQ + and BIPOC individuals and the dedication I have to educating others on LGBTQ + issues, mental health and more, I can support you!.
When I was in high school, I struggled with my sexuality. The struggle lead to maladaptive coping skills, depression and anxiety. I felt so alone, scared, and like no one understood what I was going through! I needed help but I was too afraid to ask for it! One day, a school counselor, who I've never interacted with before, noticed that something was wrong with me and she reached out, gave me a helping hand, and put me into group therapy with other teens like me! I wasn't alone any more, I wasn't the only one questioning my sexuality, there were other kids like me! Getting help was the first step towards acceptance and self-love!

My specialty training includes LGBTQ + Affirmative Therapy (SMU), Sex Therapist certification in progress (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors & Therapists / AASECT), Indigenous Circle of Wellness certification in progress (The So'oh-Shináli Sister Project).
To honestly know yourself is to pursue a lifelong journey of self-exploration, to gain a deeper understanding of oneself in the wake of life events, and, especially, to be willing to share with others who may be navigating a similar quest-- or even with those who are able to extend a great deal of empathy. This may be tough, scary work, but the rewards are invaluable, to put it lightly. You gain a deeper sense of freedom and autonomy to decide how you want to live, and truly become the author of your own story.

It is my honor to work primarily with LGBTQ clients, especially those exploring their gender identity and looking for an affirming place to celebrate their self-discovery journey. I often work with clients who have experienced religious trauma, intergenerational trauma, sexual trauma, and emotional neglect. Seeking support is hard, so you already have a lot to be proud of!

As a queer non-binary person that is part of both the ethical nonmonogamy and kink communities, I know personally how hard it can be to find a mental health professional that understands. After my own struggle I decided to pursue mental health as a profession so that I could give back to the communities that have meant so much to me. Everyone needs help with life sometimes and everyone should be able to get that help in a judgement free way that affirms one’s identity. Even if what you are currently struggling with has nothing to do with your identity, it can still be good to find help in a way that feels authentic to who you are.

While I specialize in LGBTQ + and multicultural practice, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families from many vastly different walks of life dealing with various challenges such as depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflict, trauma, stress, grief and loss, issues of identity, and more.
Do you feel “stuck?” Are you struggling with a difficult experience or relationship, perhaps a transitional phase in life, uncomfortable feelings, or a painful past? We can tolerate so much negativity in our lives when it has become familiar and comfortable to us. Change, even for the best, can be tough work. You don’t have to do it on your own. I sometimes frame therapy like this: a space to unpack those cluttered drawers in your head with some guidance and support—you toss the junk and keep the things you need. I provide a safe space to unpack your past, process your present challenges, and shape and build your future.

As a queer , non-binary, Black individual I wholeheartedly understand adversity and overcoming.
I'm proud of you. Yes. You! This is the first step of your healing journey, and you took it. That is no small feat. You may have tons of questions swirling around in your head right now. How does this work? Where do I begin? Will it be worth it? I wish I could give you a definitive answer to assuage all of those things. I can, however, assure you that I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and open environment for you to process, freely express yourself without judgment and I would be honored to do so.

You are powerful. Maybe you don't feel it right now and that's OK. Borrow my faith: you can handle it! You are the expert on you, and I am here to walk with you as you determine what needs to stay & what needs to go. To make a safe place for you to release thoughts, habits or people which are no longer serving you in a positive way. As a self-identifying African- american lesbian , I have had a unique variety of experiences. I work with you to empower your belief and confidence. I believe “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.” One step at a time, we are working towards progress over perfection.

The world can seem split in two ways- blue or pink, male or female, sir or ma’am. But you feel like you're neither, opposite of what you “should” be, or that you fall somewhere in between. You’ve noticed the way your environment interacts with who they perceive you as does not match how you see yourself. You can choose a side to be safe but this can leave you feeling isolated and empty, like an important piece of you is being ignored when you so desperately want to be seen. Being told all your life that you're supposed to behave, think, and feel a certain way has limited your sense of freedom in deciding how you want to truly live.

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in Texas, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in Texas listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
