Your body is telling you something, are you listening? As the saying goes in regard to trauma, "the body keeps the score." My role is to provide you with the tools and guidance you need in order to process the pain you are feeling within your body, in order to have peace and clarity within your mind. As a black therapist, I also focus extensively on racial trauma and the impacts racial trauma has on black communities. As an adopted therapist, I also enjoy working with transracially adopted children, as well as their families, on issues surrounding adoption trauma, attachment disorders, self-esteem and self-acceptance.
I specialize in helping you process your emotions in the body and mind. It is my belief that in order for your mind to feel safe and open to healing, your body has to get there first. I do this through multiple modalities, depending on what your goals are and what you wish for therapy. I am trained in EMDR, trauma informed mindfulness, CBT and DBT.
It can be scary going to therapy and I understand that. My biggest priority is to create a safe space in which you feel heard, validated, and understood. You are the expert on yourself. I want to be sure to honor that each and every session while also empowering you with the tools you need to be successful outside of the therapy setting.
